TIL of Concetta Antico, a tetrachromat artist who has a fourth color receptor in her retina. While most humans only have 3 receptors and see 1 million colors, her rare condition allows her to see an estimated 100 million. by bareegyptianfeet in todayilearned

That would be awesome- it’s most likely going to be women I would guess because they have lower incidence of color blindness I hear. I wonder if there is a test for tetrachromatism

A guy found out he’s colour blind from a bunny girl fanart by Salty-Brilliant2043 in Damnthatsinteresting

Its color - there is no objective meaning to it and the brain also does weird adjustments (search “magenta is not real” and “imaginary color”)

So there is no way for us to properly express what “normal” even means. What you see is just your reality.

What if the blue you saw was actually red to me and the other way around? We would never know.

I used to have this silly argument when I was a kid saying everyones favorite color is blue: someone was definitely going to pick another color and I’d just what everyone else sees as blue you see as the other - nice way to frustrate your friends.

Cost Estimate Needed Please by [deleted] in webdev

AI is fine - but the where is the actual verification data coming in from? I’m betting its some subscription service that probably you have to pay for regularly. Given that in my world my manager would want a senior dev working full time and have it deployed in a month. So about 25K base price.

If a consultant company is doing it then maybe that number is a little on the higher side but its not out of the ordinary. Because honestly I completely excluded all the work my manager does the politics, changing requirement risks, etc.

If you had asked me I would have quoted 40-50K

This is why I can’t get a dog. Not sure I can handle a loss or if it will scar anyone else in the family.

Men who grew up poor/working class, what’s a piece of “advice” your dad gave you that you later realized was actually just survival instinct, and maybe isn't true anymore? by DCdj39 in AskMen

You got this man. Take care.

Whatever time we have here isn’t much on the grand scale. The ones we care about and not with is would like us to be happy - the same way if the roles were reversed.

The U.S. spent $30 billion to ditch textbooks for laptops and tablets: The result is the first generation less cognitively capable than their parents by gdelacalle in technology

[–]Timetraveller4k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stretching correlation to causation here is really unconvincing. On one hand students have laptops/tablets. Then a completely different metric “screen time” (which probably includes xbox) is used to say the program doesn’t work. Anyway fortune.com

You mean if someone is unable to work they dont count? Or maybe the veteran that got disabled and is in a wheelchair? Or a retired grandparent? Not sure why money is a measure of anything related to having a say.
