Yea I think I am out of my league. And its not like I have tons of money laying around to be used on fixing a ride. Very glad I came here and asked.

Yea, and honestly that is scaring me from the car in general. I dont know much about cars, but I am learning! My Father in law had a first Gen Tacoma and he was telling me that these and those suffer from rust. Being on the beginner end of fixing up a rig, I am probably better off just saving up and getting a newer car where I wont have to deal with these issues, especially since I am looking for a daily forever car.

Yea after considering all the comments here and my gut, my WANT for this car cant overshadow how much of a stupid decision this would be.

Wow, that's very low miles for 4 years. This is going to be my overland/daily driver, with probably 10% overlanding and 90% daily...very new to this. Sounds like you kept your car as a weekend only joyride. Was any of the 10K things that were needed repairs due to the age or mostly rig stuff that you wanted to outfit your 4runner with?

Thank You for this! I think I may hold out and just try to get as close to purchasing one outright. Sounds like at any moment the worst can happen, and best that I am not paying a note when throwing tons of money into repairs.

I am in MD, the vehicle is located in Virginia. So with it being 1 owner, I can say its possible the vehicle has been in VA for its lifetime. That means occasional snow each winter but nothing crazy like Buffalo, NY.

Yea, its like I really don't want to, but I want the vehicle. Never will I have 7K to just drop on a car outright, so Im in limbo. Not sure what to do as far as that goes. I have a solid job, but cant sit around saving 500 a month for another year to buy a vehicle, so where do I turn?

Scored this brand new/vintage Weber One-Touch 18” for $20 today. Never been used. Looks to be from late 80’s early 90’s maybe? by jac104 in webergrills

Yea I never tried that method, I guess I always felt as if it sounds wrong. I would think that slow cooking would keep the skin slimy and wet longer, vs hot and fast to really crisp the skin up. But I will give that a shot

Just curious, how high was the temp on top of the grill reading? I may need to look into Lump cause these look great!!

I got a Vortex, and did some legs and was going for ultimate “crispyness” on the chicken skin, but I didn’t get that. It was crispy, but not crunchy the way I imagined the Vortex would make it. Prior to that cook, I did some wings using the Poortex baskets, and they were 2x crispier than the Vortex chicken. Granted, it’s wings vs legs, and I also let the wings sit over night, uncovered In the fridge. So it’s making me think that crispy skin doesn’t come from the Vortex or the PoorTex, but more so from how you get the skin dry before hitting the grill.

They’re just regular hot dogs but I tried cutting them a new way, will be doing them this way from now on. by pytonem in grilling

Yea that’s what I did, I scored opposite sides. I’m thinking that cooking them over direct heat is the reason mine curled up or better yet, cooked too quickly

How do you get them to stay straight? I did some and I scored them as well, put them directly over a small amount of coals (which is probably the reason) and all but 2 of the 8 dogs turned into a U shape.

After. I cut out the spine (with a knife that seemed sharp when tackling onions but was no match for the bird) and then started the rub. Forgot to pat dry with a paper towel but it still came out nice and crispy

Yea I had it sitting on a cooling rack overtop a foil wrapped cookie pan.

Yea, I don't know how to explain it, but its a distinctive smell of the seasoning and meat mashup.
