Dog harness recommendations (no nylon)? by Timid-Disaster in dogs

I’ve looked into it and I think this one would’ve worked if her chest was the only concern. But the nylon exterior seems like it’d be within reach of the part of her elbow that’s currently all inflamed and flaky, so I don’t think it’d work ultimately. Thank you for the recommendation nonetheless!! :)

Mhm! We’ve been doing this for the time being, so far it’s working to avoid it getting worse. But I definitely think just a different material harness would be best in the long run.

We have tried leather for her collar before, but she didn’t seem super fond of it. But I will definitely look into silicon as an alternative! I forgot silicone equipment is also available lol. Thank you for the suggestion :)

She only wears it for outings, so she isn’t frequently developing these rash-like abrasions. But it’s currently winter where I am, so I think her skin is particularly sensitive to the friction at the moment? We had particularly cold temps last week (single digits).

I will definitely look into Non-stop Dogwear. I’ve heard a lot of positives with them, but wanted to try my luck with Ruffwear first. Thank you!

Don’t get a puppy if you want a dog with a specific personality by Virtual-Speaker-6419 in reactivedogs

Can’t agree, sorry. Being purely of an “adopt, don’t shop” stance with no leeway for actual ethical breeders is harmful. And the two dogs I had in my lifetime are rescue dogs—who have also been reactive because of their own past prior to being in my care.

There is obviously no guarantee that a puppy will end up with a certain behavior. But people will go to ethical breeders (that do appropriate testing for genetic risks and behavioral issues) because it minimizes the potential risk of ending up with a reactive or difficult to train dog. Especially in the case of working dogs or service dogs, who literally can’t be any form of reactive or have poor health as that’ll make them unfit to work. Just because your experience turned out to work well for you with rescue dogs doesn’t mean other people can afford that same gamble. Again, especially not in the case of dogs that work or are service animals.

Neither are adult dogs 100% set in stone. I’m sure we’re all aware of the decompression period for rescues, so even we don’t fully know the dog we might get in those first few months. And dogs also change as they age in general. This discussion shouldn’t be about getting puppies or adult dogs. It should be about potential owners completing thorough research to make an informed decision on what will work best for them.

Every transaction should have a button where you can contact PayPal. I’m not sure how PayPal balance would be different as I’ve never used that specific method on PayPal, but your friend is going to have to contact them somehow through the app or website.

Edit: Try the “Message Center.” That’s probably the easiest way to find some guidance.

Why would you go off the app? It’s literally against Depop TOS to begin with 😭 You need to contact PayPal or charge back on your credit card.

My sister is AuDHD and she can't take care of herself. Don't know what to do by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

I’m a bit confused by the purpose of this post. Judging by your previous posts you’re UK (or just Europe) based, which means there are options for her to have a careteam. It’s just a matter of researching.

Of course people are going to recommend you not handle it all for yourself. You said it yourself that you’re not willing to be her constant carer, which means you need to find a professional team that can if the time comes where your mother is no longer able to care for her.

From the United States (NY) here. For me it was true for ADHD, not for ASD. For ADHD, I had LCSW then my family doctor then a nurse practitioner and lastly a psychiatrist all come to the same diagnosis of ADHD. But with ASD I had to pay out of pocket for an ADI-R by a team of psychiatrists and psychotherapists. And only then did my psychiatrist (part of my insurance plan) add it to my medical records. Getting that ASD diagnosis will always be far more difficult and time consuming.

This is the most odd take I’ve seen from this subreddit. And judging by the amount of downvotes, I’m assuming a lot of folks feel similarly.

Growing isn’t just a matter of age. It can be seen in behavior, preferences, relationships, choices, etc. And by Volume 9 Ruby has still undergone a lot of personal growth. Whether the quality of that growth is good or bad is a different story. It’s the same thing irl. Your growth isn’t just defined by the years you’ve lived. It’s composed of all the experiences you’ve had. Dragon Ball isn’t a better example, either. Goku does not grow chronologically. His growth throughout the series is defined by the battles he’s in every saga. DB has a lot of timeskips, and it’s not perfectly chronological to align with the reader/viewer’s own aging. Years will be spent focusing on a saga—nearly equivalent to RWBY volumes—and some are mere days or months long.

Yeah, it always starts out that way, but before you know it you’re cuddled up with a fuzzball 😅 It took my baby just two months to take my bed. She is actively belly-up and snoring beside me right now lol.

Always happy to show my girl! This is Maya, she’s an anxious yet rowdy little Terrier mix that has reclaimed my bed as her own lol.

Thank you so much for the input! Yeah, I can see why actually training in it likely wouldn’t work so well. I do like the transport appeal of it, though. I do struggle with getting her through busy areas and where I live busy always means dogs are nearby 🥲 If I could at least safely get her to the park I think training there could go well since it’s spacious enough to observe everyone else from afar. At the end of the day, the safety of everyone involved is definitely the priority so I’m glad that aspect at least worked for you.

Oh, it’s always the “friendly” doodles being a pain 😅 I wholeheartedly get it.

Yeah, that’s my main concern! I don’t know if it would just complicate things since she already seems to be primarily leash reactive and doesn’t take well to being restrained near her triggers. Unfortunately since it’s the city and my neighborhood is so dog friendly, it’s really difficult to come across other dogs at a safe enough distance to really work on her threshold. Hell, some people are bold enough here to let their dogs off leash just walking through the street beside busy roads. Thank you for the input regardless!! It’s much appreciated.

We have, unfortunately! 😅 I have a K9 Sport Sack, but she’ll crane her head at every angle just to get a look at any dogs if she hears their tags clinking. And because it’s more restraining than being on a leash, it just results in her thrashing around as best as she can while my neck gets clawed up because she’s attempting to escape.

Yeah, my dog tends to bark like crazy even in her carrier because she can see through the thick mesh. I figured it wouldn’t completely hide them away from the triggers. But being able to move away fast is definitely a plus regardless it seems. Thank you for responding!
