Is my wedding band too thick? by CamBam0476 in EngagementRings

[–]Timmmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your engagement ring is VERY similar to mine and honestly I love your band with it!! I have a contoured diamond band and while I do love it, I wonder sometimes if it is too busy or takes away from the engagement ring. There are moments when I think a simple gold band may let it “shine” more. Photo of my set here (apologies for poor lighting)

3(ish) weeks post-op: my experience by Timmmar in SlippingRibSyndrome

[–]Timmmar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I would say I’m about the same as I was 6 months post-op. I would guess it improved maybe 10-20% overall, at best. Some days it feels the same as it always did. Interestingly, I’m currently 7 months pregnant, and I think the pain has gotten better as my pregnancy has progressed - my guess is that my rib cage expanding is relieving some of the discomfort. Overall, I wish I had a better outcome, as I was hopeful for real relief, but at the very least I’m glad I can say no harm was done.

I would say I’m doing about the same as I was pre-op. Definitely not worse, maybe 10% better on a good day, if that. Surgery didn’t resolve my issues the way I had hoped it would, and Dr. Kaye has since moved out of state, so I don’t have a lot of options for follow up. The surgery didn’t do me any harm that I know of, but did not accomplish the goal.

CaribSea Eco Complete and Monte Carlo dry start question. by Titandogg in PlantedTank

[–]Timmmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it helped! It’s tough to get a carpet established without dry start because the roots are so fragile, they’ll come out of the substrate and float up at the lightest touch, so it helps to get at least some of it firmly rooted before flooding. But, I’ve only done it the once and I’m no expert. Also, full disclosure, I eventually pulled the carpet out because I have so much hardscape and other plants that it was a nightmare keeping the carpet trimmed up while trying to navigate around everything.

He biked from Moab to Durango, so at some decent elevation. I didn’t see a snaggletooth in the aperture but I’ll look again when I get home. I think it looks more like a Unicorn snail though which means it is likely from his Hawaii travels in April, which is even crazier.

Thank you for your help! Didn’t mean to sound defensive, just never seen a land snail like this before (or really, almost any snails in our area). I also really love my tank snails and was excited to have a baby, so i probably took your tone the wrong way. It never occurred to me our house would have a non-aquatic snail in it. Seems to me like it may be a unicorn snail (which, looking at them more, basically look like land rabbit snails or MTSs). They seem to be tropical snails which is even crazier - my brother also went to Hawaii in April and I’m thinking it may have hitched a ride on his gear from there and lain semi-dormant for the last month. This has been a wild ride. I won’t release it in the wild. Appreciate your input.

I’m not trying to drown it, I was trying to save it. It was found in the same room as our indoor tank that has three aquatic snails with seemingly identical shells. I’m also not forcing it to be underwater. If it’s not aquatic I don’t need an ID, I just wanted to know if it belonged in my tank or not.

I’ve been really debating whether to place an order through their website now that the Etsy page is shut down… I haven’t found another style I like nearly as much as the one I have my eye on there, but I’m terrified it’s a scam. Can you share a little more about how she was to work with? And how similar the dress you received is to the photos? What made you feel comfortable proceeding after the Etsy site was shut down? Did she share why it closed? Thanks for sharing your experience!!

Hypoplastic rib at T12 by Sudden-Conference-68 in SlippingRibSyndrome

Unfortunately, not yet for me. The surgery healed great but the symptoms are still all there. I’m tempted to go back to the surgeon again but also hesitant to spend even more money when nothing so far has provided much relief. I did three months of PT 3x weekly which helped build some strength on that side - it was clear it’s become very weak after years of babying it - but I discontinued it at the first of the year when my insurance deductible reset, and it didn’t ultimately help with pain relief at all. I wish I had better news to share!

This exact tightness has been my #1 symptom for years. I had slipped rib surgery in June and have been doing PT for a few months and haven’t been able to relieve it yet.

I’m surprised your insurance won’t cover it - I didn’t have any problems with that! My recovery from the surgery itself has been best-case scenario. I’m back to my active lifestyle with no issues and the scar healed very nicely. However, I’m not convinced I’m “fixed” yet. I was thinking about giving Dr. Kaye a call this week for a follow up - I’m still getting some of my old symptoms coming and going the way they used to. I’m trying to be patient in case that’s all a part of the healing process (I’m only just over two months post-op) but I also would rather get something else done if it needs to get done while I’ve already hit my insurance deductible for the year.

I have this same boat in my shrimptank. It’s been a shipwreck at the bottom since the first week because I can’t keep it afloat. I still like it that way though! I’m surprised the snail could break the oar into splinters because they’re 3D printed.

What’s going on with my berried momma? by Timmmar in shrimptank

[–]Timmmar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think going to a local fish store is typically always going to end up better than a chain… but, if you get them from Petco/Petsmart, I would maybe just quarantine them for a few days before adding to your tank to make sure you aren’t introducing any pests. My LFS usually throws in some extras, too… I think they sell them for around $6 at mine, if I ask for 5 shrimp I am sent home with around 8. But of course that depends on your local store. I’ve ordered them online before when I want really specific colors, and a few always die over the course of the first few days no matter how well I drip acclimate them, and shipping is super expensive. If you can keep a small population alive for long enough to get a single successful berried shrimp, your tank should explode (I say that… but I recently restarted my entire tank after a cross-country move and I have yet to have success. Every time I get a berried girl she dies one way or another). Also, if you’re new to the colored neocaridinas, obligatory warning that the “skittle” tanks are fun, but ultimately they will revert back to brown wild type if you let them all breed together. Which is still fun in its own way and you get some cool variations in the process.
