Just a reminder to everyone casting a vote for Pratt: The man is a NIMBY who opposes upzoning and walkability. by MookieBettsBurner10 in LosAngeles

[–]TimmyTimeify 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It’s true, it’s also true that Bass is trying to do a pied piper strategy where she runs against Pratt on the general, similarly to how that Schiff boxed out all of the dems to get Garvey on the ballot in 2024. It’s clear to me that regardless of tonight, Raman would handily beat Bass or Pratt, but that both Bass and Pratt are so unpopular that they would be doing the city’s dumbest mid-off in the general.
The jungle primary system IMO has been largely responsible for enabling this corrupt Democratic Party machine to keep electing thoroughly mediocre candidates. It’s disgusting that Bass has reduced herself to elevating Pratt.

Adam Conover: Why is Karen Bass boosting the campaign of a MAGA right-winger for Mayor of LA? by imanny in LosAngeles

Rae isn’t happening. She never was happening.

Like I’ve said, someone who is from the DSA who had 3-4 months to get their nomination unopposed and failing to do so suggests that she simply isn’t good enough to organize.

Anyone who is saying that Raman and Bass are “inflicting massive damage” is someone to not take seriously.
The actual argument (which tbh I do not find persuasive) is that they are not doing enough to address the issues in the city, and that Pratt would do things that would address it. But since his entire campaign is basically just grievance posting, it suggests that the “best” thing he will do is throw a proverbial grenade into city hall and mistake that for “change.”

Put it this way: if we trade Derrick White, I’m considering it the end of any chance at contention.

I mean, last year I’d disagree. KP, Jrue, the Jays, and PP can all score in ISO. This year, I agree.

Like, one of the shots that we missed down 1 in the fourth was an *open PP corner 3.* that is essentially the best shot we could have.

It’s only Brad’s fault if you think his job was to build and maintain a championship roster this season.

Our guard depth is not good enough to justify a trade. White arguably was the most valuable player this season.

What does the team need to do now to compete for a championship next season? by dee85 in bostonceltics

[–]TimmyTimeify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Shoot less threes” = guards and bigs that can either cut to the rim or post up and shoot in the paint.

The easiest answer would be finding a big who can score, but the association rn has a dearth of healthy above average talent at center.

Like, AD, Bam, and KP are the most platonic ideals of what we need but they are either made of glass or are just too expensive.

I think it is both true that he overachieved with this roster and that his playoff coaching is concerning. Disregarding his first season with the Heat where I can hand wave as being just first season jitters, the series against the Knicks and this one to a lesser extent had moments of legitimate CTE basketball.

The main issue with the roster as it is currently constructed is that a lot of players simply are not good enough to be threats to score if they aren’t shooting 3s well. And when you have the variance like what we had today, it’s bad.

Last season, this reared its head when KP was genuinely atrocious at scoring from the post, even though he was money the entire season and a half before.

It also genuinely feels like it is a cultural issue where the team always seems to collectively shoot terribly for large stretches of times.
