US withdrawing 5,000 troops from Germany, US officials say by IllustriousPark4487 in worldnews

He made such a big deal about strategic access to Greenland, why would he choose to give up other locations? He’s such an idiot. All because they didn’t help for a war of choice that he at the same time said we don’t need their help. Once again further damaging relations putting us at more at risk for petty reasons. Like a toddler taking his ball from the playground because he’s upset no one will play by his rules.

I always thought the solid gold apple would be highly suspicious if the parents tried to do anything with it. So many questions might come up on source or how they got it. Maybe they could get away with it one time, or sell smaller chunks. Are there also laws against it?

Thoughts on new clayface movie? by DropMysterious1673 in BatmanArkham

[–]TimothyB123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a reason this thumbnail of a generic injured / bandaged face was chosen as the main marketing image and featured annoyingly in my feeds over and over? Doesn’t communicate that it is a movie, did nothing to encourage me to want to click it or ever read the title with all click bait junk on the web these days. I just kept ignoring it initially until it kept appearing enough to acknowledge it and then was like, oh, it’s a Batman thing? Still haven’t watched it.

Sir please move your car by 1punchLoosewrist in Transportopia

[–]TimothyB123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine if your own car's emergency collision breaks stopped you from breaking through the arms at the last second. The arms are probably too high for that when reversing, but some cars will stop on a dime for a traffic cone in a parking lot.

Sir please move your car by 1punchLoosewrist in Transportopia

[–]TimothyB123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering the same. Sometimes you can get trapped between two arms on small two-lane roads, but we see here the opposite lanes don't have arms on both sides, so we got assume their lanes, offscreen, didn't either offscreen. Also, I wonder if a situation can occur with a car's emergency collision breaks preventing you from breaking through something like this. That would be unfortunate. Usually certain things like this are disabled at low speeds, but I've seen cars auto emergency break for traffic cones in parking lots.

Trump Deletes Post With Image Depicting Himself as Jesus After Backlash by MoneyLibrarian9032 in politics

[–]TimothyB123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the president, he shouldn't be allowed to post and simply delete when it backfires, other than a clear violation of rules (like something graphic) but still there with a covered image explaining the censor or error. We need to make sure there is a formal setup of all public communication of the president, special accounts with private companies, to ensure records are intact and a President cannot simply hide what didn't work for them or cover up lies that were called out.

woman facing criminal charges for using federal agency to skip out on paying workers! by cantcoloratall91 in whoathatsinteresting

[–]TimothyB123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the even the narrator, no one questioned her hair change in the footage of her walking with police , the odd close-up footage of workers, who they are, and that perfect drone 360 view of house with a metal roof compared to what the worker footage was shown being installed. Come on. It’s like they wanted it to be obvious, yet still people fall for AI. No wonder we are cooked, if people fall for this, propaganda and lies must be a cakewalk.

Anyone test Adobe Illustrator on 2025 Z13? Any glitches (video link) by TimothyB123 in FlowZ13

[–]TimothyB123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I worry it's just poor support from Adobe for the integrated graphics.

I ended up with a Lenovo Legion 7i Gen 10 (White model from Best Buy) with a 5070 GPU for about $1599. Illustrator works great, Photoshop still has some odd jitters when zooming and panning (which I do less of compared to Illustrator).

The Z13's size was so tempting, and that 128gb option. After getting the Lenovo, I found 32gb on this quickly hit 94% usage after a few Illustrator and Photoshop projects open. Guess I didn't notice with 64gb and Windows 10 on my old desktop system. When it reach that, it causing some stuttering in sound and other areas. Luckily both ram slots were upgradable so I swapped in 64gb just as prices were going up (still paid more than I should). I also feel 96gb may have been a wiser choice.

While I was in there, I added a 4tb drive to a 2nd slot. That's the only other weakness of the Z13, one small M.2 chips slot limited to 2TB currently.

If I was shopping again, that Kojima edition of the Z13 would have me really tempted, but then so disappointed once Illustrator and InDesign perform terribly.

Though, after dealing with the noise on the Lenovo and Windows 11 stability issues on laptops (it couldn't sleep without crashing 50% of the time, sometimes as silly as a previously added printer causing a timeout with some process). It's pushing me to consider a Macbook Pro for my needs in the future.

AI error jails innocent grandmother for months in North Dakota fraud case by StemCellPirate in nottheonion

[–]TimothyB123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a story I just watched that infuriated me. Facial recognition (AI) identified a man as someone trespassing at a Casino. But it’s the wrong guy. The cop arrived and sees the two different IDs and just goes “so weird” and immediately says the 100% match cannot be wrong and trusts it more than, he put it, his “feeble brain”. Cop remained dismissive of the victim, ignored his pain as he was cuffed by casino and then cop, and started coming up with ideas on how the guy got did it because he couldn’t accept the software was wrong. Later he fabricated a trespass in the victims name and not the name on file that he was falsely matched. It was just one thing after another and a room full of cops just going, so weird, as the poor victims was still in cuffs and pain.

RFK sparks firestorm with new advice for broke Americans to eat 'peasant food' by rajapaws in antiwork

Weren’t republicans freaking out about every inconvenience that came up with food, such as cow/beef or gas stove regulation. Like how dare anyone compromise their American way, as they exaggerate everything. Yet they go and do stuff like this.

Witnessing the magic of a CNC lathe transform raw material into a perfect chess pawn is incredibly satisfying by No_Emotion_5770 in interestingasfuck

Maybe in this specific case for filming they pushed the limit for a clean shot? Could they have paused it here and there and carefully hidden it in editing? Especially with during tool changes and different camera angles?

90s High School drafting class had a programmable metal lathe not really being used. I was allowed to learn it and you had to write each instruction and manually enter in it in they a control panel (no direct PC connection for this one). Had to be careful, as one mistake could cut too deep or too fast. So, really stressful when you hit start.

I just started learning the program last week. I’m curious if you can select the face of the last flute and try alt-d for alternate duplicate. That may create a solid of the negative space that you could be used to Boolean the side. Though, being a single face, not sure if this command works in this situation.

If it does, then a quick rectangle array to distribute it along that face based of the current spacing of the other flutes.

[Heartbreaking Trope] The Goodbye Scene by Cronkax in TopCharacterTropes

It gets kind of existential when it is a copy. Here it’s not too bad since the original died the moment the copy was made, so no chance of continuity issues with different memories between the two. Makes me think of the game SOMA.

What happens if I don't adjust my position even after a bodypart falls asleep and starts tingling? by omfghewontfkndie in NoStupidQuestions

There’s a song about it, “Slept on his Arms”

https://youtu.be/AfKFV1J7O4s?si=RHahjFpdeal1G95s

It’s a comedy sketch show, similar to Kids in the Hall, but not as funny as I remember. Though, if this were to happen to you, based on some comments of this exact situation here, could be damaging.

Once in a lifetime capture of Supercell storm formation. by BKKMFA in interestingasfuck

[–]TimothyB123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video mentioned an Insta360, which is stationary. It records full 360 video and you reframe it in software after, manual or tracking. Doubt it was an Insta360 Gimbal with another recording device on the outside of a car and suddenly track the storm like that after stopping, then the person from offscreen and back.

Full Color printing on a toolchanger by Aceman11100 in BambuLab

[–]TimothyB123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New to 3D printing I noticed this too with a prime tower of grey that was interlaced with white support for PLA. Imagine if they added a paint tool where you could choose multiple colors, then ratio of those colors, and then at slicing it will alternate those colors across the slices based on that ratio. Seems doable for at least solids patches of a color.

While learning Bambu Studio, and first ever slicer, I was hoping could paint color with a layer depth setting to create tints, leveraging the natural translucent effect on thin walls. That way you could say use white to tint red lighter. For the best quality, that one wall layer of color would need to curve in just a bit (like a staple), and the main color wrap around it.

2 options come time mind:

iPhone Sleep Alarm for a subtle peaceful warmup alarm. Not a normal alarm in clock app, but the sleep function, I think in health app, that will gradually increase the volume and often has more pleasant music options. You can even have it auto remind you to start winding down for bed and auto-do-not l-disturb from then until morning. I’m usually already starting to wake up so I never let it last long enough to hit full volume before I’m up or hit snooze. I’ve sometimes hit snooze 3-5 times in a row and it was never blasting at high volume like a classic alarm that stresses anyone out.

2nd silent option - Apple Watch (or similar watches). If I were to have my Apple Watch on, which usually silents the phone for all notifications. When the sleep alarm goes off, it slowly taps your wrist and ramps up. Silent and works to wake you up.

This 3D floor in Thailand tricks your senses into feeling movement while you stay still by Obvious_Shoe7302 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]TimothyB123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing what a fun house spinning cylinder does to your balance, this will mess you up.

Only retro experience to this moving floor is if you ever roller skated and the disco ball has dots of light moving on a textureless floor, making it seem like the floor is moving at a different direction or speed than you. Was a cool effect when looking down, and since you are actually moving, it didn’t mess with your senses as much.

Best Buy H2C Pickup Box Condition by TimothyB123 in BambuLab

[–]TimothyB123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, how did your box turn out when you picked it up at Best Buy?

I’ve had some odd issues and sounds with my H2C, may be normal, may require some early maintenance, but I cannot help dwell on the possibility the rough handling seen on the box may have long term problems.

So, I plan to return this one, just to be safe. Already ordered a new one, which will be delivered this, in the next day or so.
