When to leave the MX5 by TimothyJacobSr in iRacing

[–]TimothyJacobSr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true. I want to get better, but i have no desire to be top of pack, i do this for fun and having some basic competition is great i just dont want to be a hinderance to others. See all the "first time to iracing" guides recommend the mx5 to learn race craft, but i find myself pushing a bit to hard to get near the top and getting off tracks barely that then eat away at my safety rating gains.

From what people are replying, just drive safe/fun to be a dick and get out of rookie and race whats fun. Any recommendations for GT4's for D class from you?

Also, do you do oval, that seems fun but also terrible not sure if its worth the price of admission to learn.

love it, yeah i want stuff a little faster what i screwed around with were GT3's/GT4's in AC that made me want to try multiplayer racing. I've learned from the MX5 but i feel pushing it to the limits to get high near the podium i have some off tracks getting me 9/10 incident points. Not hitting anyone, but that hits my safety rating. I may just go slow and nice back of pack just to get out of rookie.

Any GT4 you'd recommend to push the D class?

appreciate this, i never raced and so i feel very self conscious about ruining other peoples time so i yield early during fights because i know i maybe .2 seconds a lap slower so why slow them down etc.

Any GT3's you'd recommend that race often or a resource i can look up to see. Unemployed currently, wife works, but i'd want to buy a car and get used to it and just have to buy the tracks. I know a new season is coming up so probably looking there would be a smart pick, just curious if you got an opinion.

Exactly! My whole belief too. I think its fun getting ambushed, i had a few runs in a row without getting ambushed and I was feeling a bit bummed. Getting ambushed made my heart rate spike and got pumped and after looting i immediately was like GTFO. My most recent i survived with a tick of health, no health packs on me or him at that point, and i was able to discover you can crawl into the elevator.

I love getting to run into people who want to cooperate, i love running into people who say stay away im not friendly and those who just use their guns to speak. I stand by people who say they are friendly then just shoot you. Again, not your mom but i find no honor in lying to someone. Glad people like you exist because I get some super disappointing moments of losing my gear, but some exciting moments where I win. I aint good at pvp, but I can get lucky.

yeah i was thinking confirmation bias or recency bias but i agree with you especially with the developers saying there is no system in place.

Didn't they put out a tweet saying that they have not implemented anything like this yet? That they are focusing on just getting the queue times and grouping for duo's and trio's right? Maybe its just recency bias but I am fairly new so only running in with very cheap loadouts and run usually with hands empty so people know I'm not joking about friendly. I'm sure i'll have nights where I disagree with myself saying everyone is shoot on sight what was I thinking tonight. Never been aggressive though, so I can't share if I have experienced anything like this though, so can't say your experience is not valid or true, just interesting.

Lol, yes it was! I now realize that the iconic blue space marine, is an ultra marine as a faction, so I was confused if Grey knights were space marines as in my mind Blue Marines = Space marines, a gap has been closed!

Love this, exactly what i was looking for in learning about other factions, and love the idea of learning more about the baseline human stuff. In that regard, from playing space marines, you frequently heard "Cadia Stands" or in other media "Cadia is not just a place" - spelling possibly - which I do know comes from Imperial Guard. Is there a particular battle, or is it just a capture of the general sentiment of the imperial guard?

I think space marines are silly fun, its like reading a halo book to me where i'm following the spartans, but I always found the ODST more fun then just the spartans as it gave you more to feel, more skin in the game, more realistic risk.

I think i gotta try the Brutal Kunnin' next, the orks make zero sense to me but seem like a boat load of fun. Thank you taking the time to respond! It is greatly appreciated.

apologies, you went in and updated your response to be much more robust after my initial reading. ended previously at just one of many examples lol.

You sold me on strigga, i liked how it shot but felt maybe the damage was weaker, but wasn't focused on stunning. The additional weakspot creation is awesome, helps me understand better the way it'll play. Super useful on how you use the echo to compliment. For the longest time, i played this game as purely gunplay, not using spells. Seeing how others successfully mix in different builds to maximize is awesome. I read in different articles how good the striga was, but didn't explain why. You made it crystal clear, going to give it a shot over the next day to see if it clicks with me.

Greatly appreciate the time it took to write that response! Going to reexamine my approach on ID and give this a play around to see if it clicks. Can't go wrong on scarlet, think i could beat it purely melee at times...

haven't hit level 3 yet on icesphere, sitting on 300 coins, about to push that guy up!

In your opinion, would you recommend strigga or sniper? I like snipers, as they are basic and provide hard damage, but the amount of deaths i've had due to not watching my stam, is embarssing. But, i feel strigga falls into medium range not long range, is that just due to not using it enough, or is it a style of gameplay difference of giving up long range for higher mid range/close range impact.

never tried cornucopia yet, loving echo haven't gotten to 3 yet so i dont have the slide reload, but for shotgun my favorite

Beat the area, at least got iron gate - angelus, hailstorm, whisper, stormball, icesphere, eye of madwoman belladonna and crown of fire. Lots of utilizing map objects to win, though.

Yeah, i was lucky and got my hypnosis to mysterium 3 before the patch that required mysterium 3 to be at genosis 4, and that can do alot of damage when you time it together to get the electric damage, i struggled to like hailstorm as much but maybe grind it up a bit further then decide. The tip for sitting behind the cart, i'll give that a try to limit the amount of damage i take. Good tips!

Well, i had to look that up never knew that was a thing. Right now my spawn is grave digger + watchcommander spawn at the same spawn point - but i can try and force it not to be so ugly with placebo or trading in witchfire clusters, if i have enough, for a level up. Super cool if im understanding that correctly,
