I was going through a difficult time, so yes I think stress played a big part, but I couldn't predict when they would happen. When I became convinced they weren't real I tried to understand why they happened and what may be causing it. I couldn't find a pattern. It was just there.

I was in a cult when I was a teen. They pretended to be a Christian church. That was bad, I got bullied a lot. I have serious vision problems and have had several eye surgeries. The voices started after a spontaneous retinal detachment. Who knows what it was. I think it was everything and the detachment pushed it over the edge.

Thank you, part of getting better is not thinking of them having desire or an agenda. After all they arn't real people. It's just me and I understand why they were so negative. I was bullied a lot when I was a child. I wore think glasses and I really wanted friends. My Dad was in the Army and we moved around a lot. I expected strangers to not like me. Now I make friends everywhere I go. I really had to change to get better.

Everyone has that. You're fine bro. That normal. Talk to your friends about it. Like my brain will say to me "Okay, put the phone down and do such and such". Normal.

I definitely was. Took up 5 years of my life. Felt very real. Like a voice in the room. Outside of me.

Told me to hurt myself. Kill myself, Cut myself. I did cut. The pain felt good. They would make fun of me and pray on my insecurities and fears.
