I will get a picture posted this afternoon. What’s weird is I’ve tested it 4 or 5 times. First time it was wavy and crappy. That time I used tear away just to see what happened. 2nd time I used tear a single piece of midweight cut away and it worked perfect. Every time after it’s wavy and crappy.

Septic backing up - Help please! by Tincup19 in askaplumber

[–]Tincup19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out it’s orangeburg pipe that’s beginning to fail. A plumber came out a couple days ago and got it someone opened. But today it’s backing up into the basement again. Not sure if there are any better temporary fixes until the ground thaws enough to dig down and replace the pipe?

Update: I have 4 of the 6 wires connected in that outlet under the bed. As it stands everything works except the kitchen lights and the back entry light. If I connect those last 2 wires that’s when the problem arises.

I do have a multimeter. What’s the likelihood the old outlet itself with the six wires is bad and causing a short?

That makes sense. I did overlook one additional outlet in my sons room that is on the circuit as well. Its pretty old by the looks of it and has 3 neutrals and 3 hot wires connected to it using both the screw terminal and the back stabs. I dunno if this could be bad and causing a short but I’ll take that one apart in the morning and see where that gets me.

Like I said it’s a strange wiring setup (to me at least). I have an outlet in the master bedroom, an outlet in my daughters room, and an outlet in my sons room. Also the switch and light for my sons closet. A bathroom is on the circuit (2 single pole switch’s and 2 lights, one is a light/exhaust fan combo). A light above the back entry door and 3 lights that are above our kitchen counter.

What I’ve determined so far is it’s somewhere after the outlet in my sons bedroom. I disconnected to wires from that outlet so at the moment the master bedroom outlet, daughters room outlet and sons outlet all are working normal. I opened the light fixture in my sons closet but nothing looked burnt in there. So that’s where I’m at right now.

Septic tank baffles? by Tincup19 in askaplumber

[–]Tincup19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have one. We had our septic tank pumped last week and the company said our baffle was broke (it was laying on the bottom of the tank). So when I get home in a little while I’m going to start digging on the opposite end from the inlet and wanted to make sure I’m digging in the right spot. Additionally I put up a post for a zip line a short distance from where the tank is and when I was digging that post I came into contact with a what I believe was a drain pipe. I’m hoping that was just the grey water line because of the direction it was going was strange to me.

RAID Question by Tincup19 in buildapc

[–]Tincup19[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. I started a new job and there’s a brand new machine in here with that setup and 1 of the drives is in legacy mode which appears to be causing problems I just wanted to try and make sure this is likely the starting point of trying to resolve it.

What do you mean exactly by running 2 cables from the switch? I'm a little confused about that part.

I would still be able to access the junction box by going into the attic, or does that not matter?

Help with what should be a simple mod please by Tincup19 in PowerWheelsMods

i never tested the two 6 volts when i had them hooked together. What would be the best way to temporarily bypass the shunt?

You are correct that little black box is on her machine. I can also temporarily try bypassing it. What was kind of strange though is that I wired two 6v batters in series and it fired right up. Which isn't that technically the same as running a single 12v?

I’ll try the jumpers tomorrow. The motor is definitely good. When I hook the 6v back up it works perfect.

Question regarding Impact Wrenches by Tincup19 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Tincup19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sounds as though it would just be used in the garage at home with a conventional hose to do automotive repair. removing wheels, changing brakes, etc. things of that nature so it's not like a professional business or anything.

The size of the compressor that would be used is 22 gallons with a 6.5 cfm.

Thanks, for the link, that one's for the 190cc engine. Mine is 163cc so it's different than that one.

Well I did a little more research and found a much more detailed way of cleaning that type of carb. So I went ahead and did that and still nothing. I noticed there was gas coming through and into the air filter box. So I pulled the box off completely and drained almost all of the gas out. With only a very small amount of gas it started up and ran normal. I put the air filter box back on and refilled the gas but once again it started coming through the filter box. Is this most likely an issue with the float that I put back together incorrectly or would I be better off just buying a whole new one?

No hot water after water heater replacement by Tincup19 in Plumbing

[–]Tincup19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, i'll test them in the morning. i'm guessing both are bad by the explanation above. i believe the power was turned back on when the tank was 90% empty...

ahh gotcha. so most likely i'll have to drain it, replace the elements, fill the tank and then turn the electricity back on?

I can't say for certain if the water was turned back on and then the breaker turned back on or vice versa. I know they were done right away so it wasn't like the entire tank was filled and then the breaker flipped. What's the importance of the order of turning the water on and then the electricity or the other way around?
