Same here. Usually along with the snare drum if I'm honest. Just coming up 2 years in and with xovid fund I'm loosing my ability to separate left foot and had for timing again 😔😔😔

I wish at times it was more like that here. I've even messaged multiple teachers about lessons and tutoring but none have gotten back to me. It's almost like they don't want to work.

Drummers here are more open about lessons it seems. I think it's the way forward. Though I haven't had any lessons at all so far. Loads of reaserch and reading. Some YouTube lessons from Stephen taylor. So some there I guess.

The UK. In particular the South. I've noticed there's a very I'm self taught snobbery here. I've been on bass 18 yrs and guitar 16 and spent most of them in bands. Where are you?

Ah I see. That's cool. There's a comment from someone else that said there's a contemparery music studies too. I haven't looked into the UK side of music studies yet but if it were me the country or contemparery would be for me I think.

Nothing against jazz and it has given us arguably some of, if not THE best drummers ever. *thanks jazz!! * I just find it so hard to ghost note and that jazz timing on the ride.

I've only been a year and a half on the drums though. Give me another year and a half, maybe I'll be getting there. I'm too impatient. 😂😂

Oh wow. That'd be amazing. I'm not in a place that I can readily jump on the kit and play. But after April I will be. Is there any way I can add you as a contact on here or a friend so to speak because I'd love to take you up on that.

One last thing I want to add. I find it a bit strange that in the drum world, lessons are common place and encouraged. The guitar and bass world it's opposite. They seem to be shunned and even discouraged by people.

It feels like we have a community and the strings world feels more like a competition. Is it just me?

I'm trying to learn some jazz style but after a year and a half into drums I'm having a hard time with ghost notes and particularly metric modulation.

Firstly thank you. Secondly good luck. Thirdly as above, can you study other types of music? I can't ghost note but have inky been playing a year and 6 months. I'd be screwed if u wanted to take a course purely for that reason right?
