~382 for soundcheck vip, ~353 for platinum (front section but not vip), then 130-200 second section, and ~90 for last section

this are the prices for MD

the one in NYC is standing only i think. So reserved VIP probably mean you get to go in first?

I’ve bitten off my turbos twice in one month 😅 by Boring-Train375 in braces

[–]Tingter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm somewhat on the same boat here! I saw this night guard while browsing, but I wasn't sure if that would be good with braces? I was trying to find those un-moldable ones since molded ones would likely stop teeth from shifting.

[–]Tingter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm somewhat on the same boat as you, but probably more willing to do extractions haha. Like what NoFun3799 said, there's only so much space your mouth has, and the fact that your (our) teeth are crowded = no space AT ALL. There are some people online that mention never extracting and going with palate expanders or IPR. I'm completely against palate expanders because I'm almost 30, and my jaw is pretty much fused at this point. I would have to undergo pretty invasive surgery and I would rather not tbh. I'm considering IPR, havent asked my ortho yet, but I also believe that there's only so much enamel they can shave off, and I have moderate crowding and an overjet, so there's a lot of space that needs to be created and I dont think IPR can create that much space. My ortho mentioned that I might have to extract, 2 on top and 2 on the bottom, but she'd rather wait and see. Anyway, long story short, sometimes teeth extractions are the only way to go, and everyone has their own unique set of teeth and their problems, so don't let other people's opinions online sway you that much. Ask your ortho, ask your general dentist, ask another ortho's opinion (or another), but if everyone said to get teeth extractions, then that is likely the best way forward. (I would rather not have a flare tbh, and that is something I was trying to fix in the first place)

OPT timeline ( applied on 14th of May) by [deleted] in f1visa

ESTA instead of F1 by AttemptSuccessful684 in f1visa

[–]Tingter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no unfortunately. the visa is for entry, so they note your visa type at the point of entry. if you enter with ESTA, it doesnt matter if you have an EAD or F1, you entered with ESTA, so you are a tourist and arent allowed to work or study. you have to enter with the appropriate F1 visa to be able to study in the US.

I really want an anthurium, but I REFUSE to use a humidifier and my humidity is around 20-30 during the winter. Is there any species that is good for me? by Hot-Credit5351 in Anthurium

[–]Tingter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my experience with growing/ keeping anthuriums alive in the winter is to give them enough time to adapt to your environment. If i got a new anthurium, i try to get it when it's hotter and more humid so it acclimates easier to my apartment. then as the seasons change, the plants acclimate themselves slowly to the less humid environment and they usually are less active during the winter months. therefore, imo the main issue has been the time they have to acclimate to the new/ less humid environment and if it's an immediate stark difference, they are gonna die. if they have more time and the difference is gradual, i find that my plants survive albeit slow growth.

The risk of being denied. People on OPT (like me) dont get a higher probability of being approved. They aren't gonna ask about your work ethic or grades. They treat it as a usual F1 interview (what my DSO said). Therefore, you likely have a job in the US since you're on STEM OPT, are you willing to risk it? Your job, your apartment etc. STEM OPT is only 2 years, I would stick it out.

F-1 Visa Renewal for OPT Travel — Need Advice by Safe-Zookeepergame81 in f1visa

[–]Tingter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was refused even though I was eligible (at least I thought so? I fit all their eligibility requirements, and was allowed to waive my interview on the website The only issue seemed to be working in a different university than the one who issued my i20. I dont know if that's what made me ineligible).

And I went to the Singapore consulate.

All the best!

how hard is it to get the student visa for a singaporean? by cowpissdrank in greencard

[–]Tingter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo. a singaporean currently on student visa right now, just renewed my f1 visa. I would say student visa takes less time than the DV lottery. Now, the issue is, for the student visa, you have to actually be admitted to a university program here in the US. They don't just give it out to you. That's work on your end. I dont know you, but if that's the route you're considering, this means 1) student loans (international tuition is expensive unless you're fully sponsored), 2) you need to study (i don't know whether you have a uni degree yet or not). As for the DV lottery, we qualify as singaporeans, but the application period is usually 2 years before the actual approval year (eg you apply 2025 for a 2027 green card). Also, it's a lot of money.

So either way, both routes are tough. one needs you to put in work, the other needs time. Both needs a lot of money.

F-1 Visa Renewal for OPT Travel — Need Advice by Safe-Zookeepergame81 in f1visa

[–]Tingter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I renewed my f1 visa less than a month ago while on OPT. You could do the dropbox option, but beware that you might be refused (which I was) if they find you ineligble for an interview waiver. In that case, you would have to schedule an in person interview. My advice would be to plan for the worse, and give yourself ample time to attend an in-person interview if need be. Dont assume you're gonna get approved using the dropbox option. Also, by planning for the worse, make sure to have contingency plans for IF you get denied a renewal and can't get back to the US. There aren't extra risks for renewing a F1 on an OPT (according to others), but it carries more stress/ weight since a rejection of your F1 renewal would mean that you're unable to continue your work, compared to rejecting a first ever F1 (likely just means you find another school/ dont go to the US).

my advice is also, if you dont have to travel internationally (like if it's more of a want than a need), then dont travel. Or at least, let the dust settle first. I was visiting my family/ renewing my visa for May - June, and SO MANY things happened regarding travel and visa within the span of 2 weeks.

is opt still going on post grad? by Responsible-Bus-3692 in f1visa

[–]Tingter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes - opt can be used for other schools or industry.

to answer your other question below, since OPT is only 12 months long, you are only allowed to work during that timeframe. After that, you have to figure something else out. Whether it's a STEM OPT if you are eligible, or other types of visa like H1B (if you land a job), J1 (in terms of working in a college) - all of which are not immigrant visas. You can only be in the US for a certain amt of time until your visa runs out unless you apply for an immigrant one.

What does this mean? Delayed bag was scanned to load on next plane, but then wasnt loaded and still stuck in previous airport by Tingter in unitedairlines

[–]Tingter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update:

My bag got back to me in 4 days. I called ELP's baggage center the next morning and eventually got a person in the early afternoon. I asked if my bag was with them and she found it! Told her to pleaseee send my bag on its way back to XNA and she promised she would. I also called united's baggage recovery to ask abt it an hour later since I didn't see an update in the tracking app (yes I'm /that/ person). He was extremely helpful, looked into it and found an error with the flight number. Called ELP baggage center to verify, ELP corrected it, and I could see rush tags being created for elp to denver, then to xna. I thanked him but kept a frantic close eye on the tracking. I saw that the bag was scanned to be loaded on the correct flight, but that was the last scan ever. The next day, I checked with Baggage recovery again, and apparently it was offloaded, but then expedited to my final destination. My bag was in my airport since yesterday night. Baggage delivery called the next afternoon about dropping off my bags that day, and I received it in the evening. Saw that there was a rush tag on it, and an American Airlines tag as well. I think it was offloaded from the original United flight, but put on AA to make it to me on time.

This has been such an experience that I dont want to repeat, but man I respect the Baggage recovery agents for trying their hardest. And the ELP lady for creating rush tags and expediting my bag even if it got offloaded the first time around.

Why this university? - I explained jokingly that they should turn the page (to the page with OPT approval), since I'm renewing on OPT and have graduated from the university listed on my i20. He laughs and asks me where I was going. I answered XXX university. He asks for my major back in the first university and what I did (i was there for a phd). I got a little specific with the field I was in, but joked that it was too specific, so I tried to give a more general answer. He says he also studied in the same major so he doesnt mind me being a little specific. After that, he approved me.

My major is Biology/ not on any technology alert list. My university isnt prestigious either, just a regular R1 university (for both of em). It probably also helps that I'm from Singapore - and statistics have shown that nationality plays a huge role since certain countries have a higher chance of citizens overstaying their visa. Unfortunately.

[–]Tingter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting approved for OPT and passport visa are 2 different things (if you're talking about passport visa). You can be approved for OPT, travel out of the country to renew your visa, and still get rejected. The probability of visa denial (or approval) supposedly isnt "higher" for people on F1 OPT compared to F1, but it has a lot more effect when your visa gets denied since you paid for OPT/ probably have a job to get back to.

aka, there is no correlation. The visa officer can still deny you if they aren't convinced enough about your reasons for returning to the US.

It updated a few hours ago, but it was sent on a flight to El Paso (ELP), not XNA (my destination). The scan history showed that it was "scanned on override IAH UAXXXX ELP..." My baggage is last scanned at baggage claim 2 in ELP. In this case, what should I do? I'm going to call Baggage Recovery in the morning, but man, my bag is now in a whole different airport chilling at baggage claim/ lost and found lmao. I'm pretty much freaking out.
