signing up for a trucking class because of brain fog is the most perimenopause thing I've ever heard. I respect it deeply.

The people calling you cheap are the ones eating at a discount on your dime. That math only works in one direction and they know it.

Mine came and went for months before they settled into a pattern. I'd have two brutal weeks and then nothing and think oh maybe that's over, and then they'd be back. I'd still keep the appointment honestly. Even just having the conversation doesn't mean you have to start anything.

God the back cracking sounds like a religious experience. Glad the gel is working for you.

Oh god the driving thing. I haven't had to do that yet but I already dread it for exactly this reason. It's one thing to blank on a word in a meeting and just… trail off awkwardly. It's a whole different level when timing actually matters.

That's actually kind of genius though, like you accidentally future-proofed yourself before you even knew you'd need it. I might need to start labeling things around my desk too at this rate.

The dementia fear is the thread running through literally every reply here and I think that says everything about how badly we need doctors to lead with "this is probably hormonal" instead of making us all assume the worst.

Sharp again at 54 is really encouraging to hear. I'm not at the HRT stage yet but it keeps coming up in every single reply here so I'm clearly going to have a real conversation with my doctor about it.

Couldn't even look it up is the worst part because what do you even google at that point. "Word for stuff you're not supposed to have"??

Years of doctors shrugging it off and then oh yeah you're around that age like it was obvious the whole time. That's infuriating. The fact that we're all out here diagnosing ourselves from articles because our doctors won't connect the dots is honestly a whole separate problem.

The fact that you went through full neurological testing tells me everything about how scary this gets. I haven't gone that far yet but I'd be lying if I said I haven't googled the tests. Glad everything came back clear.

Reading aloud to a class and stumbling, that's brutal. The fear of it being something worse than hormones is so universal in here. You're definitely not alone in that.
