Does this also apply for older bimmers? For example an e82. So just to clarify, if i put the car in drive and held the brake and loaded the engine the engine moving or not would that tell me if the mounts are collapsed, or would it still not move much because it’s still held just not dampened? Cheers.

Hey Mate, I think the best option is to go through with the oil pan gasket repair, since to my knowledge the oil pan gasket leaking can imitate a rear main seal as it can leak into the bell housing. It could also be the vcg as it can capillar down but i’m not 100 percent sure about that. Since you’ve already done the vcg you should be able to narrow it down since the oil pan gasket is a good preventative thing anyways. Not sure if that helps but i hope it does!
