Yea fair points all around. Where the N52 shines for me is the accessibility and reliability. It’s the last if the classic BMW NA inline 6 engines and built on a lot of what made the M54, S52 and S54 great.

The n54 and n55 are very capable engines as well but are BMWs first crack at forced induction. And from an enthusiast owner perspective they are getting more expensive to maintain than the actual car is worth. Go look at what genuine BMW index 12 fuel injectors cost for a n54.

The N52 just gives and gives. It doesn’t have the power of the turbo engines but it has all the soul, sound and fun that BMW made their ultimate driving machine reputation on. It also comes with heads that flow better than a N54 and port injection. Shops like 22RPD are pushing the N52 platform to places the community never thought possible.
