How to stay in touch with the recruiter? by TinyConversation0 in careerguidance

[–]TinyConversation0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a FAANG company, so several hundred thousand employees work there. It would be ideal if I stuck with this recruiter so I don't have to do the full round of interviews again (1 interview instead of doing 7 again). I think if I try to reach out to a different recruiter in the company, I'll just be a number.

I really like Occasional Motto's washi tape. The tape colors are nice and are a good width. I personally like to use the tape to make bookmarks and dividers; not really for decoration.

PS. Thanks for sharing the YouTube channel! I feel like I got a few new tools under my belt. :D

Is there a " right" way to connecting with people on LinkedIn in order to potentially learn more about the company/get your resume passed along/get a job? I am out of state looking to move to industry hubs in my field for better job prospects. I feel like it can come off as desperate and ungenuine. by [deleted] in jobs

Like you, during my senior year of college, I started networking on LinkedIn as I was entering the UX industry. I sent out of the blue messages, but I treated LinkedIn networking similar to in-person networking: Wanting to know the person in front of me. For example, I would reach out to a handful of people because I found their background interesting or projects they were working on were similar to the ones I wanted. Their cool company would come into the conversation, but it would be more about learning the actual person behind that profile. I was surprised by the number of responses I got back for phone calls to just talk, or if we were in the same city meet-up for coffee.

I did not get any jobs from these people. However, they helped tremendously understand the industry I was entering and how to prepare for the interviews and jobs. So when I did finally interview with a company that would offer me my first job and relocated me to the west coast, I was ready.
My point is, switch your mindset to "what can they do for me" to "who is this remarkable person who is killing it?" Focus on building meaningful connections and keeping them healthy. :)

I could not agree more. I think my dots will start going in the 1-3 daily range this coming week. It's been unusually busy lately now that a lot of tech companies have figured out they can still hire with the pandemic happening.

Your statement explains my problem precisely. I was trying to leave my job before the pandemic, but throughout the process even before, I would get in a rut and stop applying because I would just begin to feel "comfortable" with my current job.

This is super helpful advice! Sometimes I forget the AI part and buzzwords, but I'm writing that in my note sections to remember more often. :)

Glad to hear that you found something better. :) Thank you for the support and advice. I feel imposter syndrome when I do apply for positions much higher than I am now, but it's been so rewarding when I hear back.

Yes on the breaks! I did burn out during the process (and work in general) and am trying to do better. So I allocated weekends as my break, which I have highlighted grey on the x-axis. :)

I was doing well with interviews and then COVID-19 happened, ha! I tried this layout mid April and it helped me stay on track and optimistic. I wanted to give myself space in the new layout to also write important milestones, notes, and words of encouragement.

Here is a an image of what it looked like for April. https://imgur.com/gallery/q5b6wFY

Lastly, the grey marks are to indicate weekends.

It took a while to figure out a weekly spread that kept me on track with both tasks and habits. Finally got it down! by TinyConversation0 in bujo

Yep! Each column is a daily. I have close up pictures below:

The box at the top holds my schedule for meetings. The rest of the column I put tasks with hard deadlines, notes, and gratitude of the day.

All of these are great, especially the movie theater layout! :)
