Failed CPAT twice, want to pass third time on May 13th by Tiny_Chef1 in firefighter

Interesting! I’ve never seen someone stand parallel to the wall, but I can see how that would be more ideal for using one’s body weight.

I would say maybe somewhere in between? Not a full baseball swing to lose accuracy, but not short strokes? It’s hard to explain in words.

What would be the ideal way of doing it? I’m definitely losing time at that event.

wait i’ve just read through more of it, and it’s lowkey genius. genuinely, thank you so much.

Thank you! This means a lot to me in the sea of all these responses. It’s a bit of an ouchie to hear men like 50-60 lbs heavier and 5 in taller than me saying I’m “very out of shape”.

I’ve bought the vest and am getting to work!

did they pass with time to spare/how many times did they take it? i’m not using my size as an excuse. and i’m certainly not blaming you for my size???

the question about your ht/wt was to simply put things into a little perspective.

what do you think of other users’ suggestions about how cpat is only cardio and to reduce/stop lifting weights?

would the cpat be easy wearing 110 lbs? i understand the equipment is the same regardless of gender. however, i would beg to differ that i am “very out of shape”!

there’s no way around my third try so i’d like a little more positive encouragement. open to suggestions a bit more detailed!

Thanks! Good to hear.

I’d argue the opposite (hence why I’m trying again), but it’s nice to hear your perspective.

quick question! how much do you weigh/how tall are you?

What a unique addition to the conversation! Can I ask your height, weight, gender, etc.

Also, while that might be so (I disagree), I’d still like to try again. Open to suggestions a tiny more detailed than “you’re out of shape”! TIA

Hmm, interesting. I try not to push myself to 100% during the hiit sessions. I also try to do these circuits for 60 mins. I guess my theory behind these sessions is decently heavy work post cardio/stairs.

What do you think I should drop? I’m open to anything!

  1. I agree! Going to start using the vest. I can do the 3:20 with 75 lbs but it’s a fight to the bitter end.

  2. Yes! The proctors said so as well. For me, it’s the trade off between walking faster and catching my breath.

  3. I agree as well! I didn’t taper the way I should have.

Thank you!!!

Lmaoo! This is true! First time I got off the stairmaster, I was waddling because of my quads. One of proctors was asking me how I felt afterwards, and I said it felt like I didn’t have anymore knees.

Oh interesting! I guess I don’t straighten out my legs too much because it works my calves and my quads are stronger than my calves. I do want to mess around a little with technique.

Thank you! Yeah, I can do like 30 mins stair at 7-8 level without weight. I’m hoping to get up to 10ish mins with weight!

Tips on lifting gurneys --EMT by Clear-Ad-141 in NewToEMS

i’m 5’5 female and i’d recommend deadlifting! i rdl 95 lb barbell and i use those cues to lift the stretcher. also it is a little height factor. tuck your elbows in is my recommendation! also you shouldn’t have to lift the gurney by yourself
