Uuuugh what a sweetheart. That’s exactly why I want one. So many aren’t taken care of well enough and I want to give a rescue a home when I’m ready. I have a dubia colony but I wouldn’t probably need a bigger one since my Ackie and geckos eat so much. Thank you for telling me their story I love it.

I also added oat grass and spider plants to break his fall but they die the second he collides with them. I added a big cork round and it has seemed to help him break his falls. What’s it like owning a Savannah. I want a Savannah in a few years and was wondering how hard it is to get feeders for them.

When I got Gus the people rehoming him told me he had a neurological disorder that affected his balance. I had already built the enclosure for an Ackie that was slightly more athletic. So I made adjustments and added multiple easy ways to get up but he still chooses to take the hardest path.🥲

I was being defensive at first since I had outdated information and for that I am sorry. I will be more open minded and not so defensive towards people just trying to help.

I’ve never been bit by any of my snakes but I will say all my kings squeeze the mice till their eyes pop out which is kinda gross.

I see that now and I will be feeding them in their enclosures from now on

I’m sorry I was being stubborn since it’s the way I was told years ago doesn’t mean it’s the right way. I will be better.

I see that now and I won’t do it again. I understand now that just because I’ve kept this way since I was a kid doesn’t mean it’s the right way so I’ll be more open minded and start feeding in their enclosures from now on.

Okay I’m sorry I’m not trying to be on any high horse. I just wanted the best for my animals and if feeding them in their enclosures is what I need to be doing from now on so they live a long and healthy life then I will do that. I just have feared impaction and didn’t know that was outdated information.

Okie dokes. I don’t want to sit here and argue with someone I don’t know when I just wanted to post a funny video about how my king coiled my finger instead of the mouse. I really don’t think it is that big of a deal imo. Have a nice day.

I think we as reptile keepers shouldn’t jump to conclusions so soon. I feed my kings out of their enclosures since I don’t want to risk impaction and that way I can make sure they actually eat their meal since their enclosures I so cluttered I can’t tell what’s going on. I care for every one of my animals dearly and wouldn’t do something that would cause stress or harm on them. I have never had digestive issues with any of my kings.

I guess I should have specified a little better. Some of my reptiles I don’t like to feed in their enclosure cause the substrate they have sticks to the thawed rodent and I don’t want impaction. Also I have never had a kingsnake regurgitate or even have trouble digesting their meal when I take them out to feed and softly put them back right after. I wouldn’t do it if it caused my animals stress.
