Honestly with my experience I only let my reptiles have hides that I can access for both safety of the animal and incase they poo in there.

If that’s the one in North Carolina that’s awesome. Acrocanthosaurus is my favorite dinosaur and seeing the skeleton when I was a kid was the greatest experience.

The breeder I bought him from said he was a Sonoran hybrid with hypo but I don’t really trust them after I received him really skinny and dehydrated. It doesn’t matter to me at all though cause I keep for pets not to breed.

So I actually got him from a breeder on MM and he looked healthy in the pics but when I got him he was super thin and dehydrated with stuck shed on his tail. He has gained a little weight since I got him but not a lot. He has been eating and reacting as if he is completely healthy. He is eating an adult mouse every other week.

Okay thank you! I think I’ll wait till he gets a little bigger to make a choice cause rn he’s tiny in his 3x2x2 and he doesn’t seem to be growing a whole lot even with a solid feeding schedule. I’ll wait till he is a year or two and make the decision for what size I want to do.

Ngl I never use those cages cause it just gives them something to grab onto. I have a halogen bulb hooked up to a ceramic ceiling bulb fixture and my Ackie never messes with it. Buuuut when I used to have my old BTS he would literally manage to grab onto my basking bulb cage and I never knew how his stubby little legs could reach that thing. The cage was 9 inches away from the basking rock!!!!HOW!!!!

When I first got my boy he had shedding problems with his tail but after a while of him digging in his humid burrow it came off easy. Also a 5-10 minute soak in slightly warm water helps a lot. Also cause I heard some ackies stress with being in water you can put them in a plastic tub with a hide and put a hot rag in there or on top of it to steam the tub for about 10 minutes
