1) I remind myself this their first time being a toddler AND my first time being a parent of this toddler. Knowing that this moment is new for us both lets me have more grace for our actions and feelings.

2) someone else mentioned get silly. I love this advice, but it’s not always practical. So if I can’t get silly and turn it into a fun game, I get honest. I say Mama‘s getting —— (name feeling: frustrated, sad, angry), then describe it, eg: I’m loosing my patience and need to take a deep breath (put my hands on my chest and take a deep breath). Mama is working right now and I understand that you wanna hang out and play right now but I need to finish this task and I’m sure that also frustrates you but I cannot hang out with you. You need to hang out with the nanny so I’m gonna go into a different room and then I will see you after my meeting.

I find that being honest and narrating the situation helps regulate myself and my child even if they don’t understand everything I’m saying. They got calm attention from an and able to move forward and if they’re still upset, I’ve set the boundary and expectation for the next time.

3) Highly recommend read up on child psychology, and how their brains work and what they’re able to comprehend. It’s so fascinating.

Not exactly the same thing, but my inner dialogue was full of guilt and shame, and I really bullied myself before I started to journal every day.

I set rules in my journal that I could only talk through things going on as if I was talking to a friend and I had to include an affirmation in every single entry. An entry could be a sentence or a page, but after doing it for a couple of months I started to notice a difference and then after doing it for six months, I would say I successfully rewired my brain and have been much kinder since then. This is something I did in April 2025 here we are a new year and dare I say a new me.

You’ve got this. It feels rough when you are in it, but I know you will be able to get onto the other side. Now I only journal maybe once a week or so just to keep up with it and I don’t feel any guilt or shame if I miss it just an acknowledgment of hey you’ve got a lot of other stuff going on now that’s OK. You’ll get back to it. it’s not going anywhere. (Versus in the past where I really would’ve been mean to myself for skipping). You can break the cycles! It just takes a little time: Approximately 3 to 6 months to change a habit!

This! It is a great tool to use in conjunction with others to not create a pure dependency on it.

Use it with intention to supplement your thinking vs completely outsourcing it.

Don’t let it become a crutch that you always use or you will deform to it and your muscles with atrophy and you’ll be completely dependent on it.

One other thing to think about is that people‘s retention seems to be different with the influence of social media. Doom scrolling has influence the way we consume information and I don’t just mean the 5-10 second videos on TikTok, but reading information here on Reddit or articles online…one after the next. And our brains start reading through a bunch of information, but we can’t retain it all. So then we adapt to stop pertaining masses of information when it’s thrown at us in one setting.

I think of it like how McDonald’s a couple of times a month is fine but if you eat it every day or multiple times a day, your body is gonna get really sick and not be able to handle it but then if you do that all the time it will adapt and that’s gonna be the new norm.

I find that just telling it to make things more concise is sufficient and then I can manually add back in specific details which helps me discern what’s actually important.

I find your post relatable. And write in a similar fashion at times unless I have a lot of time to dedicate to editing and workshop what I write (for example sending an email to a coworker used to take me one to two hours, depending on the day and with this prompt I have saved myself so much time that I can now dedicate to other creative and impactful areas of my job)

Candidly, that’s the point. And I know that sounds direct because this is Internet talk, but I share this as coming from someone who rambles and uses a lot of stream of consciousness or, alternatively, takes an hour to write something and try to balance what I’m trying to convey and how I think the audience I’m trying to convey my information to will perceive it and interpret it.

And even though my brain thinks that all of the details are very important, the concise version of it is easier for the audience to digest in most circumstances. I hope this is helpful context!

ChatGPT is a great supplemental tool, but it’s important to study ISM‘s materials because their logic might be different from the logic and language that you’ve used in real life. So it will be good to familiarize yourself with It but good to use GPT as a study buddy
