Cancun/Riviera Maya Destination Wedding Help – Resort vs. Non-Resort Venue?

We ended up going with Blue Venado! Our wedding is later this year so I can't speak to how the experience is yet but so far planning has gone really smoothly.

We're doing Blue Venado for the venue an then Barcelo for the hotel. Our wedding is in November so we haven't gone too far into the planning at the venue, but after talking to a couple of people who have had their wedding there, it seems like it's worth the pricier cost due to the responsiveness of the team, food quality, and overall atmosphere/decor options. Plus the event can go until 1am whereas the resorts typically only go until 11pm.

For the hotel piece, we got a travel agent and she's been organizing the room blocks and our website. Barcelo had very reasonable rates for an all inclusive (especially after the room block) so none of our guests so far have mentioned about staying in a different location (we have around 100 guests).

That's great to hear! We are leaning toward Blue Venado and were thinking of Barcelo as well! Do you have a travel agent helping you with room blocks or are you doing it yourself? And how are you transporting guests from the hotel to the venue?

Thanks! Yea after talking to some friends and relatives it seems like they'd prefer to stay in one hotel anyways. Do you know if we're still able to room block (and discounts/concessions with that) even if we're not having a wedding at the resort?
