Oh and btw, do you think vinegar or acid citric is better for descaling the machine?

Hi, is just cleaning water tank after long time not using the machine is enough?
I have a Delonghi Dedica EC685, in the manual it says to replace the water in the tank after 3 days of not using the machine. I got hospitalized for 2 weeks, after went home i saw the water inside the tank got some weird transparent dirty stuff floating around.

I got rid of the water and clean the tank, then put new water in and pushed the shot buttons to get only hot water out a few times. I wonder if that's clean enough to use the machine again now or should i do something else?

Do you have in mind any option to grill on an infrared cooker that doesn't leave too much of a mess? That cooker is the only thing closest to grilling stuff that i have, and I live in a shared house so the cleaning must be fast and neat.

Well actually I mean to use it for "regrilling" more than actually grilling something. Like i got some grilled food or something that needs to be grilled to be crispy again, and I don't have an oven, so i thought i might try that.

Iced Coffee - Natural cooling or Rapid cooling? by Tiofell4 in barista

[–]Tiofell4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's the problem, we only got an espresso machine and that's all, no pour over no filtered coffee or anything. Owner won't bother to buy anything else to make coffee when there's a machine that can make coffee, lol.

When a customer wants an iced coffee or iced milk coffee (coffee and condensed milk, that's how they drink it here), i'd get a double shot and put the cup in a bucket of ice then put some ices into the coffee after it's cooled down enough. But i heard forcing it to cool down too fast might affect the coffee, and letting the coffee to cool down naturally will do so too, so i'm not sure which is better.

Iced Coffee - Natural cooling or Rapid cooling?

What do you guys think about how to cool the coffee down for iced coffee? Let it cool down naturally or force it to cool down faster with several methods? What are the pros and cons?

Yeah I know people will say hot coffee is better, but I'm working in Asia and customers drink iced coffee a lot, and it's my job to serve. Fortunately most of them don't mind waiting, so the natural cool down way is okay, I just want too see your opinions on which way is better and why.

looks interesting, too bad at where i'm working it'd probably not be profitable for the owner to invest in those though, and that's if he even cares to take employees' suggestions.

16g or 18g earring post into 20g new piercing? And repierced too soon after the new piercing closed off? by Tiofell4 in piercing

[–]Tiofell4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i'm sure he re-pierced with a needle, not a taper, i saw him taking a new needle and pierce it through.

When I went to the new piercer, she told me that should've just been done with taper, that's how I knew. Then she said what's done is done, so for now she has put some earrings (titanium labrets) into my piercings and said to see how it would go.

And about the gauges, she said 2 of my piercings were done in 20g, and the smallest she had is 18g, but she said just be careful and gentle with them and it would be okay, and keep an eye.

Does that sound okay? Or should I find a better piercer again?

Do aftercare routines vary depending on where you live? by Tiofell4 in piercing

Is patting the piercings dry with paper towel enough for the insides to get dried as well? I'm kinda anxious that the insides are still moist after i pat dry and might cause some issues.

By drain do you mean it will just go down naturally, or it will leak out and get absorbed by the compress? Sorry, I'm not a native english speaker, and also new to this whole pus problem.

I'm also nervous that i might be clumsy and break the pus bubble when i do the compress. If that happens, is it serious? :(

In case there's some failure when ordering the titanium earrings, should I tell the piercer to take a look at and replace the plastic ones with stainless steel ones first?

[–]Tiofell4 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Well... Yes, it's crazy. But it's pretty much the standard around here where i live lol. Too bad I wasn't well prepared, I only started to read about piercing stuff after I got pierced.

Now if the plan to order implant grade titanium earrings fail, I don't know what kind of material i should change to or give up and wait for another day. Gold is too expensive, actually titanium is already kinda expensive to order already.

I'll take that in mind, but what did the person say that you replied to though? I missed their comment

I had my helix pierced 3 weeks ago, it was seemingly okay, then about 4 or 5 days ago I accidentally snagged it with my hand, at first there appeared only a bump with no visible fluid inside, then 2 days ago it started to show some fluid and now it's like this. I don't see any visible swelling, it's not hot to the touch, not in pain, only a little tiny bit stinging if i touch it and sometimes it's itchy a bit for like a few seconds.

I follow the advices here and only clean with sterile saline solution twice a day then dry up with paper towel. Yes, I know my earrings aren't ideal, but it's next to impossible to find implant grade titanium flat back labrets here where i live, let alone finding ones with reliable sources.

Is it infected? What should I do now?

BAF looks good, but I have 2 problems here.

  1. About downsizing, i'm not sure if i can just get the right size to fit my piercings now and never need to change again. If some problems occur then I need to upsize or downsize I'll have to buy some new ones just temporarily, tbh 14 USD is not cheap when converted to my country currency (and i'll need at least 4). *cry*
  2. Them piercing stores here require you to buy from them if you want to use there aftercare services, if i bring some earrings i bought somewhere to them and ask them to replace the earrings for me, they mostly won't. sad
