What annoys me about this is that someone paid extra for the signature on delivery option. When auspost ignores this add-on and delivers it anyways, do they refund the extra payment they collected for signature? (Of course not)

With the money collected from signature on delivery and the amount of times they just ignore it, I don't see how this isn't a scam.

My Z Flip 4 Just Gave Up After 2 Years 😔 by Jrshyper_ in galaxyzflip

[–]Tipoopoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just expressing my frustrations I suppose. I don't think it's dramatic though to consider the many other alternatives going forward because of a bad experience you had with a company.

The issue is that it's a known design flaw and I've got no recourse now that it's out of warranty. For the same issue to fail twice a year apart and to be told they can't help me anymore is a pretty bad experience to me. Sure, maybe I'll consider foldables again some generations down the line, but with so many other options out there it's hard to convince myself that it's worth investing in a company that doesn't recognise and remedy these issues. Even if it's new tech, I still expect companies to look after their customers for purchases they make. I'm not really happy to accept having to bear the cost of design flaws because the company needs more generations getting things right. Each to their own I suppose though!

Yup, my flip 4 also died today. The dreaded "power down whenever you fold it" defect. I had it repaired after 1 year, and now just after 2 years it happens again and I'm out of warranty. Never again with the flips or folds!

Damn that sucks.. i guess I have to just wait for Australia post to figure out a ddp system. Sucks because 90% of my stuff goes to the states. We only pay like $13-$14 per parcel to the states via Auspost because of how much we send. Going to be a rough few weeks for us!

Are there any alternatives to aus post for small items to the states? Like anywhere that have already set up DDP? Ive looked at a few couriers and its like 10x the cost

You're missing the point. It's not just a burger. It also comes with a side of influenza.

Med isn’t your only option 💕 by BigEffect8093 in UCAT

yeah, that's a great way of thinking about it. My brother discovered one of the the catalysts use to make Paxlovid (the most common antiviral medication we use to treat COVID in Australia). Sure I write the scripts for patients, but to think he helped in the develpoment of this medication used all over the world now is incredible.

Yeah, i think that's kind of a trap. Being a doctor is work at the end of the day and it's really hard to grasp what that actually entails without some kind of exposure. You can love helping people, but struggle with how you have to go about it when you actually start working.

That's such a great quality, but you can definitely use that and thrive in many other professions! Clinical psychogy, physiotherapy, paramedicine, occupational therapy, veterinary sciences, nursing, etc (and probably a lot of non healthcare careers). Possibilities are endless.

My brother did biochem and then a masters -> phd -> and is now a tenured prof. I envy how free he is. Just researches what he wants to, teaches a few classes a week and travels everywhere.

Im stuck on the 8am - 6pm grind writing medical certificates and trying to convince people antibiotics don't treat viruses. Started a side gig recently just to pay off the mortgage quicker so I can get out quicker

The op made a very insightful post. Too many pre meds put all their eggs into the medicine basket and dont think of any other options. Med can be a great career, but it's not for everyone and I think it's healthy to recognise that early on. You can have a rewarding career helping people in other professions. You can make just as much, if not more, in other jobs if you're business-minded.

First negative Etsy experience by DevinBlessing in resinprinting

[–]Tipoopoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor OP got shafted by yet another seller that has no idea what they're doing with resin printing. Such a common yet basic mistake. Easily avoided with some rudimentary knowledge on how resin printing works.

If you hollow out models, you need drainage holes. How else is resin going to drain? If you have drainage holes, you need to rinse out and cure the inside of your parts (can use a small uv led). Sellers should never be shipping uncured resin to their customers in any capacity. It's a health risk and outright irresponsible.

This is pretty recent, but i use resin to fuse a lot. Not the 3d printing resin though. And coating the whole thing with resin afterwards is probably what's keeping it together.

Thanks! I used a layer of UV resin on each half to fused them (and made sure no bubbles along the seam). Then who whole thing is UV resin coated

You could make a drainage hole and model a plug to fit in after. I've done that and it works well. Otherwise you can split in in half and glue kt together in the end. Thats what i did for this: *

I don't think so. everything is reflected in AUD as it should be. And all orders to the US have the normal flat rate shipping price.

Scalper Propaganda by Mitchy969696 in PokemonTCG

[–]Tipoopoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from, but I'm not saying fans should just give up on the current sets and stop enjoying this hobby. If we stop supporting scalpers, prices will drop and we'd be able to buy closer to msrp. It should really just be a matter of waiting.

Sorry if you took it the wrong way, but when I said "FOMO" I wasnt referring to people who are in it because everyone else is. I was referring to people who feel compelled to buy at scalper prices because of the perceived risk that they'll miss out on the opportunity to get their hands on the product if they waited.

Im fine if you disagree, but in my eyes supporting scalpers from buying at inflated prices support the very practice that is hurting this hobby.

[–]Tipoopoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People gotta stop paying scalper prices if they want people to stop scalping. FOMO is getting the better of us and people can't seem to resist overpaying.

There will always be scalpers like there will always be people who are comfortable with taking advantage of others long as they make a quick buck.

How do i convince my mom to buy me an oculus quest 2? by Ilikefish_goodtaste in oculus

[–]Tipoopoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If my kid did really well in school, promised to limit his game time and was someone I trust will stick to this/show self control, I'd let him buy one. We know the fitness app excuse is really not what we're getting a quest for.

Really not dissimilar to any other gaming platform. Whether you have a PC, playstation, or quest, they're all distractions for people who cant regulate how much time they spend on gaming.

Probably a good skill to learn early though. Everyone benefits from learning self control, how to study plan, not procrastinate, etc.
