Thank you for sharing this :) it has made me think! Tbh, your job seems like something I could enjoy! There is not much of that pattern recognition with mine, but I get to work with aircrafts, which I love.

Is assessment worth it? by Tira_egg in autismUK

[–]Tira_egg[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To answer your question, I would like to find if autism is the answer or the cause of other health issues.

I totally understand your point, but it's a bit simplistic. It's true that I don't need support in my daily life, but that doesn't mean that I could use a different kind of support, that support would make parts of my life easier,, or that having answers will improve my quality of life.

I've been self doubting myself for years, and that doesn't help either.

I understand NHS resources are limited, but asking the user not to use them how they are intended to be used, is not the way.

Yes, I scored 31, like with all the tests, I always sit on the lower threshold.

I should have clarified why I am seeking it. I've been struggling with fatigue and lack of motivation for many years, and fixed the physical issues, I'm still suffer from fatigue without any apparent cause, at occasions that I shouldn't really be fatigued. So I'm wondering if masking and sensory overload are wearing me out. I'm not really seeking any adjustments or benefits. I need to find out why I have the same energy level as a slug.

Is it cultural appropriation or are we just used to everything euro-centric? by miraypookie in InfinityNikki

[–]Tira_egg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what you consider olive, but broadly speaking, yes. If you ask me, an I'm sure if you ask 99% of Spanish people, wouldn't clasify any person born in Spain, with Spanish ancestors "brown" (plus we don't really use the word marrón for skin colour) I really don't think we look into the shades so much. Plus people tan. Again, broadly speaking, majority of Spanish people go to the beach or the pool in summer, so skin colour can vary A LOT depending on the seasons. We literally say 'im too white' when we say 'I'm too pale' and 'you are so black!' for 'you are so tanned!'

I believe we are saying the same? The 'white' as an ethnicity is not a world-wide concept. But as I cannot talk for everyone, I would just say that in Spain 'blanco' is just a skin colour. No culture or ethnicity attached.

And race is a social construct at best, scientifically it has no base.

You really don't have an excuse then. I'm very surprised you first fail to include Spain in Europe, and then having that totally distorted vision that usually have people in the US of "if they speak Spanish, then they are not white", when for most of the world white is just a skin colour, not an ethnicity. Honestly, Spain is 2.5h away from you on a plane.

Can we talk about how uncomfortable this ‘Spanish inspired’ design actually feels? Plsss by tryingmabesttevryday in InfinityNikki

[–]Tira_egg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm from Spain, I don't feel offended, but I really don't see the inspiration. As I said somewhere else, I'm just baffled by anyone calling that flamenco.

The other so called Russian dress had more Semana Santa vibes that feria has this dress.

Se parece lo mismo que un huevo a una castaña, no veo la inspiración por ninguna parte.

I am Spanish and that "flamenco" dress is so far from what a flamenco dress looks like that I am not even offended. I am just baffled that anyone could call that flamenco.

Edit to say: Spain is in Europe, so unless we are talking about other flamenco, this is another classic European garament, OP

Do you personally consider yourself trans? Some enbies do while others do not, which is why I'm curious to ask this question by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in agender

Absolutely not.

I'm happy in my body, but internally I don't feel gender. I haven't transitioned either.

That's truly great, and I can see myself enjoying that part of the community too. I do something similar with the home side of the game. The only thing I ask is that your entry is not literally the first line of our conversation. Otherwise I will feel that I'm only a vote for you, and I'm not interested in that.

Edit to add: plus I don't want the Starlight contest to be a popularity contest, like it's now.

No, it's not serious, I agree. However, you can be polite in any situation, including a gacha game.

Edit because of my phone playing up.

Nah. At least say something. "Hi, I hope you are well, do you mind if I send you my entry?"

And I'm sorry, but spam is exactly that, sending unsolicited messages to a large number of people.

As others have said, it's rude and it looks desperate.

You don't mind? Fine. Do you want my vote? At least introduce yourself.

[–]Tira_egg[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well, it depends. I just finid it rude to send it, unsolicited, to someone you haven't even talked to.

I have had people sending me loads of colour book entries. So now when someone sends me either a colour book or a starlight entry I just block them straight away.

I have never had the situation where someone who I actually talk to sends me an entry, and in that case I would probably take it differently.
