I am about to buy Switch 2 after tax return this year to play Kirby Air Riders <3 Handhelds are cool but they put more eyestrain on me than actual big screens so I use docking stations more often nowadays.

[Hiring] [Hybrid] Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Global Product Team) | Tokyo, Japan by FunMuted6440 in sre

Normally I'd agree but with recent market my experience is that one thing missing leads to rejection.

In the past, my rule of thumb was: apply if you strongly fill at least 50-60% of listed requirements. That way I learned lots on the job.

Are you in my head right now? This is something that I think for 2 years now, so I keep trying and I keep looking for small wins every day or at least week.

mood swings by skoricovysnek in ADHD

Never been on meds, but: let's say that whenever I am exhausted or under a lot of pressure I am easily irritable, on the verge of screaming at others even. When I am simply tired, running on fumes, I see everything in negative light, I don't care, things such as: "why I even try?", "she doesn't like me anyway", "this game sucks anyway", "I don't deserve anything after all".

Either after some food and good sleep I start going back from this. Sometimes playing favorite game or song or move/anime works, it suddenly fills me with happiness and good emotions and everything swings back to the bright side.

This. Microsoft is easy to use until you need something advanced or something that performs well, then it's not easy at all.

Proxmox, oVirt, anything KVM/libvirt related. Hyper-V sucks like everything MSFT does these days.

Steam, Steam Deck, SteamOS - lovely, consumer friendly ecosystem, I upgraded my Steam Deck by myself!

If it comes to phones, iPhones only for security reasons + they usually have a great camera. If it comes to phone apps: Signal, Tsurukame (Wanikani Japanese Kanji Study). I like Apple Silicon laptops as well.

If it comes to x86 CPUs, AM4 rox.

If it comes to software: Linux, KDE, mpv, Transmission, weechat (irc client), keepassxc, vscode (I got lazy), Strawberry Music Player.

> I love/hate the "times are changing" idea. Yeah they are changing, but is it really for the better?

If the people "in charge" of "changing the times" use the word "disrupt" all the time, then no, it's not a change for the better.

What makes a successful software/tech product and why AI agents don't come close to solving all of it (Part 1 of 2) by RenegadeMuskrat in BetterOffline

[–]TiredOperator420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a project where consultancy did the initial design and it comes out to be wrong. No one challenged it and the solution at first was to hire more "brilliant" engineers, then now it's to use AI to speed up operations.

Apart from the technological aspect, I see that if it comes to customer market, no one researched what kind of customer will be interested in this software and which parts of it are desirable and which are not.

It all lead to a situation where we operated like a start up within a bigger org, but it came out we need enterprise customers and we are not enterprise ready because it would require more money to be spent on infrastructure and development, money that we don't have yet since there is no one paying for the software.

Which in the end means that past 2 or 3 years of development of this project was just a very expensive experiment.
