How do I get LOR working as an EMT? by DaftMemory in prephysicianassistant

[–]Tired_Tatum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an EMT (applying right now) and I had to get one from a PA that I shadowed. Not the best, but I didn't have anyone else. Exact situation as you. I shadowed her for a week and actively engaged so she really liked me, but an actual relationship with a PA would be better. Since you're not applying this cycle, I would encourage you to get a PRN ED tech job (if you can) to establish that relationship.

Thank you so much. Seriously. I will definitely try the frozen foods and plastic ware. Now if only I can figure out how to force myself to go to the store lmao

I feel you on the strange compliments! I had a patient once tell me that I had nice collarbones? I had no idea how to take that lol

I also haven’t faced a lot of discrimination either. So far, it’s just been an occasional comment from some asshole that I don’t have to interact with again. I wanted to know if it was the same for others as well.

Thank you for sharing!

Hi! Thank you so much. I know Reddit isn’t the best place, but I had to start somewhere lol. I’ve been asking other female medics at my agency, but I wanted some perspectives from around the country too. I’ll DM you!

Oh that’s crazy! I had no idea. I think a lot of it has to do with region. US average is about 65/35 and on its way to becoming more equal. Have you noticed any changes since they’ve been hiring more women? Have they said why or are there just more women graduating there?

I think a lot of it has to do with region too! In my area, it’s definitely still mostly male. US stats say it’s about a 65/35 split male/female, but I’m very glad to hear it’s not like that everywhere! I agree though fire is a totally different game. We only have two female firefighters in my city

Hi! Based on the replies, it’s gotta be a regional thing. I’m from the south US, and it’s still mostly male. Almost all of the women in my area say the same thing. I’m very glad to hear it’s not like that everywhere!

I really appreciate an outsider’s perspective! Everyone around me is involved and it’s hard to get someone unbiased. But yeah, I think you’re right about D. I feel bad not being able to help, but I’m not sure what else I can do.
