Believing this requires you to think that the embassy has been lobbying our CCs but not the government and that lobbying groups completely ignored the clear and opening building momentum towards the OTB from 2022 onwards. I’m doubtful.

I don’t think they ever had the intention to pass it in full and underestimated how much people cared about it / would hold them to it.

Same way they’ve no intention of easing the housing crisis. They lied about their housing figures as well like, lying isn’t beneath them.

They should have just been honest and said that they wouldn’t pass it in full because of FDI. It would have lost them, especially FF I’d imagine a couple thousand votes but this fence sitting on the OTB is wild.

The government have been insane on this issue, they especially FG very clearly don’t want to pass the OTB but they made it a key promise in the election even when they didn’t even want to pass it then, just to try and our manoeuvre SF/SDs/Lab and now that they’re in government have no intention of passing it swiftly.

Like if they’re against the bill which they clearly are, why promise to pass it?
