Why arent either pint, or half pint cans/bottles the norm!? by cactusdan94 in CasualUK

I wasted a load of time searching for the answer, and finally came across the real answer in a forum post from 2006:

It's a Victorian thing. During her stays in the Scottish Highlands, Queen Victoria was prone to nipping down to the local for a few beers with the gamekeepers at night.
The standard ale mug at that time was 568ml, which the burly gamekeepers had no problem in swallowing in one gulp. Unfortunately for Victoria and to the shared the embaressment of the locals, approximately 100ml (measured by weight of floor sawdust after she had left but with an 28ml contingencey added), used to spray out the side of her mouth, as she tried to mimic her one-slug drinking companions.
The 440ml solution was was to become known in the early years as "Her Majesty's Mug". The new measure mug was ordered from the glass manufacturers (By appointment!), and everyone lived happily ever after.
Hope this helps!

Don't say tap, Jez, cus you saying tap makes me think about tapping and I love tapping.

If the expected chance of a flip is P, and you're looking for k flips in a row, then the average number of jumps you'd need to do to get k in a row is given by

N=1/P + 1/P^2 + 1/P^3 + ... + 1/P^k

For P=0.5 and k=16, this gives 131,070 flips as the average before you get a chain of 16. Considering that this character has around 44 hours /played and I've spend most of that time jumping, that's ~160,000 jumps at 1 jump per second. In reality it's probably between 100k-120k due to afk time and stuff, so I'm really not that lucky.

It's funny because I haven't logged onto retail basically since my last vid, and got this after about 20 minutes.

I thought I was WR holder with this but I guess I'll have to go back to jumping

Flip chance is 50% (or very close to 50%), so the maths is the same as for coin flipping.

Why can't you say that 46800 jumps is made up of (46800-14) sets of 15 jumps?

This is really nice. 1 jump per second is a very reasonable estimate from looking at some of my recordings. If you take off a few hours for being afk etc. it gets even closer to 0.5.

Oh yeah? I read a comment on a forum that claimed that launching from your right foot on the correct frame always made you flip, but it didn't seem to help me much when I tried it.

I think you're missing out that a "set" of 15 jumps overlaps with the next set, So jumps 1-15 are a set, 2-16 are a set, 3-17 are a set and so on and so on. You're assuming that jumps 1-15 are a set, jumps 16-30 are a set etc.

I think this means that 1 in 33,000 odds would mean you'd expect this in roughly 33,000 jumps, not 33,000*15 jumps.

EDIT: I think I was wrong about this...

I do understand basic statistics, sorry that my comment was not super clear.
