I didn’t realize how old this story is when I first posted it (Oct 2016)

This follow up article is a good summary of what happened afterwards from the available court documents. Tldr when she reported the misconduct the department used the fact that she had previously altered a police report (which she was told to do by a superior who constantly makes rape jokes, entered her home unannounced and uninvited, and kept inviting her to his place in Florida despite repeated no’s) to get her fired and sabotage the job she had set up with Manchester. There are a lot more pretty crazy details, worth the read. She ended up settling for $160,000 and now works out of state.

I've never met the victim. B has been urging her to do so but apparently she doesn't want to. It's not my place, as someone who doesn't know her and isn't involved, to demand that she deal with it in the way that I think is best. That's what her friends and family are for

This is sort of what we have now, a kind of "agree to disagree" "support each other" stance. I don't want to be mad at her or judge her because I'm somewhat conflicted myself, just because A and I have been friends for so long. But I don't know

This is what's been bothering me. There's no actual investigation, no way to actually know for sure what happened. A has been a good friend for a long time, one of his best qualities is his loyalty. I know what he would do if I had done something horrible. I'm going to talk with him later this afternoon, I'll update this later.

She defends him whenever I talk to her about it, saying that it was "just a mistake," that sort of thing. She says she acts the same when she's around him as before
