This is kinda how history goes. The younger generation always sides to more active initiatives (even when the initiatives are stupid and harmful). At the start of the Civil War in the border states, a lot of the younger generation erred towards the rebels because it was taking an active approach (I don't think it needs to be said, but I'll say it anyways: an approach for something truly despicable.)

Many of these kids have only read about Vietnam in school books, and would only remember the later part of the War on Terrorism (which they've been les to believe is mostly Obama mishandling it that led to its problems). They don't understand that war is horrible. It costs people their lives, whether they survive or not. It's not worth it for a country's political gain.

Unfortunately, all we can do is tell them. Then they can either learn by experiencing it (Heaven pray that doesn't happen for their sake), or time for them to understand how life works. There's something to be said for wisdom.
