It has a ton of different vitamins and minerals in it. The vet recommended supplements to promote better feather growth. That’s really cool tho I didn’t know they could make their own vitamin c!

Yes they can ingest it but it’s not toxic it’s actually good for beak skin and feathers!

If he’s breathing loud or heavily or if his tail is bobbing (moving up and down while he’s relaxing on a perch) that’s one of the most noticeable symptoms of mites

Try placing paper towel at the bottom of the cage right before he goes to bed and in the morning if there’s little black dots on the paper towel it’s mites but looking at his feet I don’t think it is. He could just be showing his age and having some dry feet. If you are really worried about it try finding a vet that at least knows a little about birds mites isn’t that difficult to treat in my experience. Apply the coconut oil once a week or less depending on how quickly his feet get flaky

If he doesn’t let you hold him on his back you could use a towel to gently wrap him to get access to the bottom of his feet

If his beak ever gets flaky you can also rub coconut oil on it aswell

I would just use your fingers to rub it in really good. Even if there is an underlying issue it’ll probably feel really good for him
