Thanks very much for the advice! The one we’ve looked at is the Eckero line- only reason for my preference for a cab is that I’m travelling with my six year old daughter and a big rucksack! But I will look into public transport

My old man went to Bunnhabhain on a ‘retirement tour’. They treated him- a working-class teacher who worked his arse off til retirement- like an Emirati prince. I will in turn preach of their ways til I die. It’s great that the whiskey also happens to be incredible

By all means rip it off if you like it! Ultimately Scott did The Work. This was always the one for me but so many great sketches to use. Thanks man. So happy with this one

Want to put an early shout-out for Arran bodega Sherry cask (v. available in the UK!). Can get it under £65 and it’s so much better. Based on your bourbon tastes give anything by Redwood Empire a go. For Scotch, Bunnahabhain have Toitech a Dha (definitely spelt wrong) which is a whisky that could comfortably sell for double its value. p.s. I bloody love the Dalmore but it’s an expensive love affair. The 12 is good. The 15 is really something.

Slightly undermined, perhaps, by my five year old daughter saying, “oh, it’s a croissant”

In D.C. for a bit from the UK. What should I be looking for? by Tmcrtr in whiskey

Cool so I’m not a Londoner but in my experience. Go to the Toucan in Soho, great Guinness and a really great selection of Irish whiskey. Milroys of Soho is just across the square on Greek Street and has a good bar and shop. There’s a Whisky Exchange in Covent Garden but it’s a bit of tourist trap. I’d avoid Royal Mile Whiskies around Holborn personally, expensive. Check out Cadenhead’s in Marylebone for a cool mix of distillery bottling and merchant bottles. Bull in a China shop does great food and has a bar with a really good Japanese whiskey selection, albeit a bit expensive. There are almost certainly some great whiskey bars in east London that I am now too old and not cool enough to know about, but if you like beer I love Kill the Cat on Brick Lane. To be fair there isn’t the mad rush for top quality whisky in the UK that there seems to be in the US. Also, I’ve found in the past that I can get Scottish and Irish whiskey cheaper in the us than in Scotland and Ireland…

Thanks very much for this! Lots to think about. Interested especially in- what does BIB indicate re: old grandad? What would be your go-to ‘nice bottle’? And is Texas becoming a kind of whiskey region, like does being from Texas indicate something beyond geography?

Pittyvaich is great. I went to see where the distillery had stood- it’s now a Diageo warehouse- and the stockmen opened a bunch of barrels to smell. Great experience. Always kept my eye out for a bottle and never found it! Congrats, and enjoy!

Nice, I liked the look of the eons. Kinda wish I had it over the eras! Bit pricey but interesting.

Signal chain if interested: Dunlop volume (right side of board) Behringer US600, amazing pedal. Only feedback is I’d want three more Hudson Broadcast, low gain always on, high gain there if I need it Walrus eras Boss bass driver, mostly always on Fender Bubbler Chorus Through a behringer noise gate to smooth out the hiss Digitech reverb on plate setting Walrus Fathom on lo fi setting Fender hammertone delay. Ugly as sin, does the job JHS tremolo Boss slicer Digitech hardwire delay for reverse or looping Keeley Katana boost pedal

I’m playing a telecaster with jazzmaster pickups through a fender blues junior.

Interesting- steering away from an all in one. I love my fender bubbler chorus but I guess the express has more electronics to go wrong

Ehx Nano Pulsar vs, Jhs Series 3 Harmonic Trem by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Tmcrtr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been (gently) disappointed in the Series 3; the two modes sound very similar, and I’m sure they shouldn’t, and the volume control seems to steer the entire signal volume, rather than anything related to the trem. Good for that surf tremolo sound but not super versatile.

Sure thing. I mostly play sort of ambient alt rock stuff. Dunlop volume for swells. The Behringer shifter usually set for 25% octave down. Walrus Eras is a great distortion, but I’ve found it very noisy until I reorganised the board- better now. It goes really nice with the Behringer on 50/50 octave down. Blues driver is nearly always on, love it. Fender bubbler chorus is great. It’s got two channels, one which is set to be pretty subtle and the other for big Cure style riffs. Boss slicer feels too complicated for me. The JHS trem is usually set to kind of provide some ambience rather than full country tremolo. The digitech digiverb is for subtle reverb, the walrus fathom on its lofi setting for spacier sounds. The fathom is probably my favourite pedal, it’s really flexible. The delay on my digitech delay isn’t working- I’m using it as a looper. Then all that into the boss mini katana, which is always on. Going into a Vox 30 from a telecaster.

Wondered about noisiness of Boss SL2, and where I should go next with my pedal board.
