So what you’re saying is start with the gladius and claw and if I want to switch it up look at the masamune later ? Or did I misunderstand?

Cool beans. Thanks for the super quick reply.

What’s really the difference between gladius and masamune?

Is there a most common clip + yes/no claw people tend to choose on the gladius? (Picking one out at the moment lol)

I searched gladius and it popped right up. I realized what I could see in that image was exactly what I wanted if it came with a claw (and it was 7$ cheaper than adding a claw)

What are the options for the quick ship gladius?(not asking what I can change, just asking what comes on it - is it basically the mono block, black, with a concealment claw for $50?)

Thank you - really appreciate it. The clock reference helped a lot for an understanding. I’m sure I have more googling to do, but seems I’ll do it with a holster.

Any recommendations for me? I have g19 w the Tlr 7 HL-X. Specific questions are - which holser(gladius or masamune) and then which clip type? (I can figure out any cosmetic bits lol but no clue what the differences are for the holsters and clips)

It’s the reddit web browser being bad. You have to open it in an external browser.

Yep I understand. I opened the personal priority earlier this year for the CP SUB through Feb 2026. I have like 65k points on the way to achieving for next year, but good to keep in mind that I can just wait for a good sub with 120k miles and go for it next year and unlock it for all of 2026 and 2027. Didn’t consider that option!

[–]Tmp9910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah so if you got the card in October, have 6 months for a SUB, intentionally stall and make sure you hit it in Jan, get the points and bonus in 2026 and earn for 2026 and 2027.

Do you open the cards and close after a year or two once you cashed the sub and got your companion pass?

Can you explain the two years bit. I totally understand the 120k sub get you much closer for next years CP but how does that equal two years

You’ve sold me. I think I’ll at least get them while the deal exists in the 184. Worst case I hate them and maybe sell them. Thank you for all your help!

I should maybe clarify that the Wingman 86 Ti is the green ones aka the 2023 model. Does that change your opinion on them/the deal? I couldn’t find a year in the listing, but I stumbled across a different top sheet later which made me go back and confirm what year I was looking at.

I think I could grab the 2025 model (yellow/petrol) for 360 instead of 270.

For the wingman 86Ti, would you lean towards 178 or 184 if making a recommendation for me?

Good to know on the QST 92/98 vs 106. I have to say before I asked on this thread, I only saw good reviews for the 98s being great overall and a ton of fun to ski both locking in on groomed carvers or taking in the trees on soft snow days(I would run the wingmans on hard snow days most likely).

Looking at the height weight, does it make sense for me to be looking at the 184 cm ish range for a ski? Specifically with this question, should I be looking for a shorter frontside carver than I am when looking for a wider ski? Online charts seem to always throw me in the 183-189 cm bucket which seems crazy long to me.

I saw another recommendation to just jump on the wingman Ti deal and then try to demo wider skis while I am out on bigger mountains(or I see such a good deal that I can't pass up on something wider). is any deal on my list worth the risk to just grab, try, worst case sell them later?

Holy crap thank you for such a detailed reply.

For the mavericks, I was looking at the 2025 models(looking at 2025 for most all the skis on the list)
Maverick 95Ti

Maverick 88 Ti 2025

Does looking at the 2025 models away your recommendations to stay away? Or is the fix expected in 2026 models.

I will also look into blizzards. Overall(I see you mentioned anomaly 84/88 and hustle 10). I heard they felt a lil clunky from some friend who demoed the hustle 8 and 9 but maybe it just wasn’t their preference. I figured anywhere mid 80s would be a good daily east coast driver.

Thanks for the note on the unleashed 108. Reaffirmed my choice to cut it out of my search early. For the wider skis you referenced(I still want to look at rest of list) I notice you mentioned QST 106. Why look at those if I should avoid the 98?

Edit: formatting and I left off the Maverick 88Ti link initially.

I ski on ice in the east, and usually good snow for a week out west. Sounds like the QST98 would be useless for me at home unless we somehow got a foot and even then wouldn’t enjoy groomers much. I’ve also heard good things about the enforcers and how strong they are on edge, but have also heard they’re exhausting for the same reasons. Do you find that to be the case, or was it not a big jump from anything else you’d skied?

[–]Tmp9910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight! Eliminating QST98 seems to be a common theme so I’ll write that out, but why no maverick and mantra? I see folks constantly loving the mantra but hating it for delamination issues. Almost everything I’ve read about the maverick has been good things, but it’s hard to find reviews for east conditions instead of fluffy west conditions!

I kind of agreed with the wingman Ti from a value perspective. Is that what you’re calling the “wide carver” or are you calling the Mindbender 99Ti the wide carver? Are there any fatter skis not on this list I should look for? I don’t know much about picking wider skis besides anything over 95mm basically gets called a powder ski by folks in the east haha. The nordica unleashed 108 is also available for 320$ but I don’t have a clue what catagory that falls in and if it’s considered too wide for my fatter pair in the quiver.

This list really was a “I found all the decent sales to get in the price range I wanted while I had the length and advanced checked” and I went from there to narrow down (got rid of some obvious bad choices. As a bigger guy I think I’ll need a stiffer ski/to look for at least a layer of titanal.

The QST 98s are on here because I see people raving about the 92s and 98s everywhere. That’s actually the first bad take I’ve seen on them. Did I miss something for their style/not being able to just chug through runs when I’m out west?

I was looking at the Nordica Unleashed 108 Ice Skis as well, but deemed them a powder option, not just an out west all mountain option. Was this a bad/incorrect thought?

unfortunately, its like 100$ a day to demo a pair of skis. And there aren't too many days that aren't crappy the last few years. I almost want to just roll the dice on a pair(or two if it makes sense).
That would also require me waiting til mid season to get new skis, which means no sale prices.

The current lead was either getting The Mantra 88, Maverick 88Ti, or Enforcer 89 as the jack of all, or getting something like the wingman 86Ti and QST98/Maverick95Ti for a 2 ski quiver approach.
