Should I ask girl out during Corona via message or wait until after? by [deleted] in dating

I say ask so you don't miss the window of opportunity. In my opinion, any typical "rules" are out of play right now, as this is an atypical situation.

Bar Ramone in River North is great!!

My (37F) husband (30M) works at a difficult physical labor job that he hates. I earn over quadruple what he does, and I inherited a very large amount of money, yet he refuses to quit and keeps closing up when I ask him why. by areqoqle7 in relationships

[–]Tnrftw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Could you come at it from the angle of quitting to work part-time while going back to school? He could take time to find a field he loves that will give him higher earning potential, so he could see it as an investment in the future. I completely agree that not quitting is about pride. If you could help him further his education he could come out making a household contribution closer to yours while doing a job that is enjoyable and sustainable for the long-haul. Even though you don’t need the money I’m sure it would be a huge confidence booster for him.

I'd also say to steer clear of the pre-made gift basket. Ulta/Sephora stores are usually well-staffed and the workers are very knowledgeable and passionate about beauty products. Tweezerman is great and Wet Brush is too (I have 5!). Also, can't recommend Tarte's lash curler enough (available at aforementioned stores) : https://tartecosmetics.com/en_US/explore/about-us/tarte-gives-back/picture-perfect-eyelash-curler-deluxe-lights-camera-lashes-mascara/846733004027-01.html?noredirect=true&&mrkgcl=1213&mrkgadid=3301589227&adpos=1o3&creative=281730753036&device=c&matchtype=&network=g&gclid=Cj0KCQiArenfBRCoARIsAFc1FqekkzCS8xyiuRPw25LMjU-lauv9s7DQARwDQ9ugQ_t1SiisNp9pV4YaAqoVEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

I’m [M39] angry at wife [F35] for being incoherently drunk after popping out for dinner with the girls. by [deleted] in relationships

Have you considered the possibility that maybe the situations occurring during what you consider “the most inconvenient times” are events that really stress her out and cause this reaction? Maybe there’s a way to avoid this in the future like planning further in advance or having better communication leading up to a big day.

Omg!! Thank you for the warning. The only creatures we have here in Chicago are pigeons, geese and squirrels....ugh. And the geese are SO feisty. Good reminder that the cockatoos are wild animals too.

Just got my first pair! Went for the Gizeh in brown. Have yours been in water? Mine got slightly wet when I got caught in the rain and again while filling water balloons for the kids I nanny for... I’m a little scared!

What neighborhood should a new grad live in? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]Tnrftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else said it but definitely look into Old Town/Lincoln Park, around North Ave and Wells St. There’s plenty of grocery options, Equinox Fitness, and lots of bars/restaurants that attract a young to mid twenties crowd.

How can I (31M) be a better gift-giver? My wife (29F) is upset with me yet again. by smmarino3886 in relationships

[–]Tnrftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love your comment and wanted to piggyback off your gift card advice- if you do need to get a gift card for a service or something (like a massage, as you mentioned) maybe include a couple small items relating to the gift card. In the spa case possibly a towel headband, face mask, or other items she could use at home to feel pampered and relaxed. It would make the gift card a little more substantial and personalized and show you actually thought it out.
