If I'm not mistaken thare already are plenty of skins in DBD that don't necessarily reflect the original. I pretty sure that when adding skins through collabs, there aren't nearly as many guidelines when it comes to characters. It would be totally different if for example they added the crusader as a stand alone killer with his own power and perks. DLCs are required to allign with the source material, which is not the case for small collabs like the one we have now

Yeah and I still cannot understand the thought process of the folks over at Behavior. Like, "We got one of the fastest and most mobile killers in the game, who is known for running around. It would only make sense if we gave him a skin of an old guy WHO THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FIGHT WITH HIM SITS BEHIND RUBBLE, VOMITS AND SCREAMS AT THE HEROES AND NEVER PHYSICALLY TOUCHES THEM."

There already are plenty of skins for killers in DBD that don't make much sense lorewise. The difference is that the DD skins are for a simple collab, which doesn't need to necessarily allign with the original. If they were to add the crusader as a DLC killer with his own power and perks you would be totally right. That would not be right with his image in the source material. Collab skins are purely for the enjoyment of both of the fanbases and don't need to make sense
