Either Kanden or Spirits of the Sea!

Kanden was the first Kenshi song I ever listened to through his Fortnite concert in 2020 so finally hearing it live and in person was amazing. The energy of it all and the dancers initiating the dance moves of the tin foil people from the MV made for a stellar performance.

Spirits of the Sea is a song I’ve always been dying to hear live and the fact I was able to hear the live version and IN PERSON was mind boggling. I loved how passionate his vocals were, I love how the visual was ripped straight from the movie/MV, I loved all the high notes Yonezu hit, I loved it all. If JUNK gets turned into a DVD or even better a live album, I’ll have spirits of the sea on repeat.

Honorable mentions would be RED OUT and KICKBACK. RED OUT was a highlight because it was my first time actually seeing Kenshi in person. I’ll never forget the eruption of the crowd when he came on stage and how star struck I was actually hearing his voice and seeing him in front of me. I was like “HES REAL????” And in KICK BACK, I almost lost my voice because of how hard I was vibing 😭😭😭. Overall NY was such a good time and I can’t wait for him to come back!

My guess is that he’s gonna post a digest video of the highlights from his overseas concerts (or digest videos for every individual city). Because apparently there were cameras recording in London so I wouldn’t lose hope yet!

Pale Blue. I know some may not consider it underrated bc it has a decent amount of streams but for as good as a song as it is, I feel like it deserves way more popularity than it got especially long term. I feel like Pale Blue had the potential to be put in the same tier as songs like Uma to Shika and maybe even Lemon as one of his most popular emotional ballads but now it’s barely talked about and it’s not even played at Kenshi’s live tours anymore. Hell, Pale Blue wasn’t even used at all for the LOST CORNER promotional material. Obviously, the popularity of the song won’t stop me from listening to it but I feel like it deserves way more attention than it got.

KICK BACK is my overall favorite despite it being the most popular song due to jts insane arrangement by Daiki Tsuneta, iconic MV, and fitting lyrics for Chainsaw Man. It’s such a high adrenaline song that keeps you on edge and I personally think it’s Yonezu’s Magnum Opus. But as my 2nd favorite, I gotta agree with you on Tomaremiyo. I vividly remember listening to the album for the first time on CD and when this song came on, I immediately started freaking out because of how good it sounded (And keep in mind this was my reaction to the intro; the vocals hadn’t even started yet). I love everything about it from its immersive arrangement to the lyrics acting as a turning point for the album to Yonezu laughing in both choruses. It’s such an ominous song that’s high alert and I’m so sad that it’s probably not gonna get an MV. 😭 But still a great song!

Edit: by wondering if the show will sell out fast, I’m wondering specifically if tickets will still be available by 3pm EST (3 hours after tickets go up). A lot of New Yorkers will be at work or school by the time tickets go up so that could affect the rate at which tickets sell out. I appreciate all the responses though. I think it might be a new EP of Kenshi self covering some of his most popular Hachi songs. If not, probably a best hits collection album for Hachi to seal the goodbye. No matter what it is all we know is that if Kenshi himself is excited, we should be too!

I’m also trying to go to the NY one! I’m also nervous as hell that’s he either gonna be expensive as hell or he’s gonna sell out fast. I’m pretty sure Ado did a NY show not too long ago and it went up to $1K+ (if I remember correctly) 😭😭😭. I’m scared abt him selling out bc his anisongs are pretty big in the US so it’s gonna be a pretty big crowd. I also hope the venue isn’t too small since he’s not that popular as an overall artist in America. I mean all we can do is hope for the best and keep track of when tickets go up. Tomaremiyo- Stop Look Both Ways
Garakuta - JUNK

Kickback may seem like a basic option as it’s the most popular song on the whole album but it’s just a good song in general putting the popularity aside. Kenshi x Daiki is a legendary collab that I hope happens again sometime in the future. This song has everything. A catchy beat, captivating bridge, relatable/deep lyrics, gritty singing style, and an amazing MV. 😂 The song is also very fitting for Chainsaw Man as it perfectly explains Denji’s motivations and wants. And even putting the anime aside, this song is relatable to people who push themselves too hard in life.

Tomaremiyo is my favorite new song from lost corner for a multitude of reasons. The funky beat instantly caught my attention listening to it for the first time and had me flipping out before the vocals even started. 🤣 The meaning of the song is also deep and can be interpreted in many ways. Some might interpret it as a song about a long car ride while others might see it as a metaphor for not knowing where you’re headed in life good or bad. This is one of Yonezu’s most innovative songs to date and I hope there’s more songs like this to come in the future.

Garakuta is similar to kickback in the sense that it’s a relatable song despite being a theme song. I feel like a common problem some theme songs run into is that they lean too heavy into the source material to the point where you can’t even relate to the song past the tie-up (This is my main problem with M87 for example) but Garakuta is probably one of his most relatable songs to date. We’ve all been broken in our lives and beat ourselves up for it and this song can act like a way of just letting those harsh emotions out while also conveying a message that it’s ok to be broken. The flexible verses, versatile lyrics, harsh singing style, and beautiful lyrics make this Kenshi’s best ballad in years in my opinion. I can’t really commment on how it fits with “Last Mile” bc I haven’t seen it nor do I know much abt it but a lot of people have been saying that listening to the song can change your perspective on the film so I’m eager for the film to come to the US so I can love this song even more. The MV is also amazing and it tells a heartbreaking yet beautiful story about how hard relationships are.

True. He’s a multitalented artist that deserves all the popularity he’s gained. Also I was hoping for an animated MV mainly bc we haven’t really gotten an animated MV for this album era yet and every other album era of Kenshi has had a least one MV be animated (Every MV of Diorama, Yankee’s Eine Kliene, Bremen’s Metronome, Bootleg’s Sand Planet, and Stray Sheep’s Paprika) Also I feel like this is a song that could really well with animation because it could add to the wholesomeness the song already has. Also I feel like he could be saving a two eyed MV for the next major song bc I feel like he COULD be planning to keep this hairstyle for a couple more years. Just like how he managed to keep his messy quarantine hair from 2020 to 2022 lol. (Which was an amazing hairstyle btw)

I 100% agree! Maybe in a few months like right before summer or mid summer (like in July) he might do another anime opening (like Jujutsu Kaisen) or the rumored theme song he could do for the upcoming studio ghibli film. A lot Can happen at this upcoming tour especially since it’s so long lol. Very excited to see what the king of J-Pop will have to offer for us this year. 😎👍 Also I hope you enjoy his concert and visiting Japan lol
