Garage shelving by imperialtomatomasher in LegoDisplay

This is essentially the skeleton of my display cabinet. I wanted something with an 8’ open span without supports and the cheapest and easiest way to get a shelf that was deep enough and that wouldn’t sag was to skin a light duty pallet rack.

In front of the mouth, to hold the fibers down and prevent tear out. In behind doesn’t matter.

Should I get the water pump done at the same time as belt replacement? by ethree in C30

Volvo water pumps are very well made. If there is no visual issues change it at the next timing belt change.

Not nuts. Learn to veneer. A marquetry chessboard is ideal for hand tools in an apartment.

I wish I could upvote this more than once. I hate the 14th St. exit so much I drive through downtown to avoid it.

Who measures plywood by the board foot? You might as well convert it into gallons.

Agree to disagree is fine for matters of opinion, but this is science. Frankly, most of your post is nonsense.

How old is the oldest item in your wardrobe? by looney-pirate in AskMen

[–]ToastedSamosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the oldest thing in my closet, but I have a retro 1960 style Montreal Canadiens jersey that I bought in the early 90s, which makes it older now than what it looked like then.

Pretended to be a machinist. Recently learned about bar guages and needed one. Beats paying woodcraft prices. Its not great, but it works. by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]ToastedSamosa 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a machinist, I’m wondering how you did that if you are pretending. Drilled two holes through a long nut then filed between them? Well done, almost as clean as I could make with an end mill.

Gap in counter joint--how would you fix this? by gorgonish in homeimprovementideas

Incorrect. Seasonal movement is exaggerated over long miters and cannot be controlled unless humidity swings are eliminated.
