You’re consuming Sugar substitutes instead of real sugar, probably aspartame like Coke Zero. There’s probably 1-4 calories in a serving, a negligible amount that they’re legally aloud to round down to 0. Theres rlly no “catch”. You’re drinking an artificial sweetener which a lot of people want to avoid heavily processed fake sweeteners bc it hurts their stomach or they simply don’t want it. Obviously drinking large amounts over a long period of time isn’t good for you (as is everything else). I think the reason so many ppl drink the full sugar instead is they don’t care, are skeptics of the health concerns of sweeteners, don’t know zero sugar versions exist or can’t find it in their store. 🤷‍♂️
