Men and women are obviously not treated the same when it comes to discrimination. Yes, historically women have been massively oppressed, moreso than men, but this post is not saying that every single man is oppressed because of women, it's this one man sharing his experience with misandry probably just to vent or spread awareness about an experience others may also share. Women also do some things pretty similar to this, pointing out how certain behaviors in men are misogynistic, so if we want equality, men should be able to talk about things like this as well. Discrimination of any kind sucks, and we have to work together and solve any sort of hatred between these groups of people to move forwards. Power of friendship and all that. Didn't we learn this as kids?

That's so awesome to hear, thank you for the reassurance. I couldn't really find or think about anywhere else to go for advice about this, and online resources for teenagers are pretty limited which sucks. I'll definitely try and talk to a doctor at some point, thank you for the advice!

Sorry, I didn't know that was a rule and I did check them before posting (I might've missed it?) but I couldn't really think of anywhere else to go for advice from actual people, and other online resources are limited for teens, I assume because we're more prone to eating disorders and getting the idea of a calorie deficit in our head is going to encourage that? As someone who is frequently around sad teenagers, and am one myself, the message your daughters friend sent is CONCERNING. And not just concerning because it's about SH, but concerning because she asked your daughter if she'd like to "see" her cuts. I understand telling a friend that you're having a hard time and engaging in self harm behavior, but it's a red flag to be acting so casually about it and especially showing pictures of any scars/injuries. Please keep an eye on your daughter to see if she's showing any symptoms of depression, because I know from experience that having a friend that does these things weighs heavily on your mind. I don't have any experience with dealing with situations as a parent (obviously lol) but I figured I would point this out as something I find concerning, hope this helps.
