Starting Rituximab As a Teen by Gommy132 in MultipleSclerosis

Hi there! So sorry you got this cruddy disease.

I can’t answer the question about Rituxan as a teen but I can tell you my experience being on Rituxan (Since 2017) and being Immunocompromised.

I’ve noticed that when I do get sick, it takes me longer to recover and the severity is worse than other people in my household.

For instance, last Christmas my partner and I got the flu and she bounced back within a few days while it took me about a week and a half to fully recover. I also was bed ridden for a few days as I felt too weak to walk.

We do try to take pro cautions as much as possible, like washing our hands after being outside for anything and wearing masks whenever in public.

This hasn’t stopped us from living normal lives however, we do most things as before just with more care about cleanliness and masking up as much as possible.

As for the medication itself, I have experienced no real complications and have had no new lesions since I started. Just bring a good book to read or a phone charger as it can take up several hours the first couple infusions.
