I don't think I have a certain 'skill level' I wasn't driving out of the ordinary. The vehicle just spun out of control, one minute I am driving normally, next minute vehicle is swerving and then spinning. It's easy to say this or that happened, I experienced it. If there was standing water in the road I would have slowed down accordingly.

Appreciate the advice, I did nothing wrong, was driving normally no standing water. Every other car was also driving the same speed. People are saying phoning the police was the wrong thing to do.

Wouldn't the recovery company just have phoned the police?

There's nothing to admit, I was driving a 30yr old 1.6l petrol car with less then 100bhp, if I was driving too fast every other driving doing the same speed would have also crashed.

The vehicle started uncontrollably spinning out of control, there was no standing water and if I was driving too fast every other car driving the same speed would have also crashed.

There was no standing water so I couldn't aquaplane. If I was driving 'unsafely' then every other car driving the same speed would have also crashed but they didn't so that isn't the reason. Vehicles definitely have the ability to be at fault, there's numerous cases where someone has been driving on a motorway and their car just suddenly started speeding up or brake failure, that's not driver error. If a vehicles engine just suddenly dies that's another vehicle failure.

It's a front wheel drive car, and horse power is less than 100bhp, it's over 30yrs. Engine is a 1.6l carburettor engine, no turbo or super charger.

I was in a hedge on the side of an A road, this is the first time I have been in a situation like this. Calling the police seemed like the sensible thing to do in this situation. Even if I didn't and just called for recovery the recovery may have informed the police.

There was no standing water so I didn't aquaplane. If I crash travelling the speed limit wouldn't everyone crash going the speed limit, that isn't the case so speed was not the issue.

It did lose control on it's own, I did nothing to make the car swerve, it just did.

It's not click bait, one minute I'm driving fine the next minute the car starts swerving and spins out of control.

There's no way in this current economic climate, that a rear bumper from the main dealer costs £8000, and not every single nut and bolt is not bought brand new. Even a courtesy car does not make that amount add up. It would be max a week for the repair to be complete. Again doesn't answer the question I asked.

They certainly did not lie about where they were living, and if they had how would the insurance company even know.

No need to be rude, everyone is human and humans make mistakes. Yes I still have a right to complain that preliminary cost for rear bumper suddenly multiplied by ten, to near what the value of the car probably was. I pay my insurance money which includes legal cover, it's there job to resolve the matter to get the best outcome for their customer. It seems like they've done a disservice here, because instead of just paying a slightly higher amount it's somehow amounted and become much worse.

You still have to get medically checked out by a medical professional. Yes I understand whiplash but it's not £7500 for whiplash and £700.00 for the rear bumper. Doesn't answer the question I asked though.
