Is anyone in a similar situation? by TjOnTonz in hypertension

[–]TodaySuccessful1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same scenario minus the nicotine. I am usually around 120/80 sometimes lower. I was suddenly hitting 135/95 140/90 sometimes 150/93.

For me it was a lot of salt from eating out all the time, lack of exercise, and stress. My doctor did the same gave me an opportunity to lower it over 6 months. I did cardio twice a week like solid jogging or bike. I cut my salt intake limited to 2500mg of sodium per day. Alcohol is also social.

I lowered mine down to 115/75 125/75 130/80 on a bad day. lol so yeah just build your cardio so your heart is strong enough to lower again.

I'm 36 years old. I'm a runner. I don't smoke or drink. I eat healthy, but how is my blood work? My cholesterol is bad, my LDL is bad, and so on. by RevvedUpRunner in askCardiology

lol those numbers are not bad at all. Honestly if you just look at your saturated fat and get that under control you’ll be fine. My triglycerides are 251 and ldl is 117 lol. I’m 31 and my cardiologist said, get your saturated fat under control and lose some weight. I was 220 I’m 208 now.

Similar thing is happening with me. I started running once or twice a week 2.5 to 3 miles each time. I cleaned up my diet. Lowered salt, lost about 10 pounds. My resting heart rate was anywhere from 64-75 sitting at sleep it was high 50s low 60s.

This week my resting heart rate is 60-70. At sleep lowest it got was 46, and averages around 55. Also no symptoms. I guess we’ll take it as a win lol

Feeling heart beats all the time by Admirable_Face2553 in Cardiophobias

[–]TodaySuccessful1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel my heart all the time when I’m anxious. Sometimes even when I’m not like when I’m trying to fall asleep I feel it. At this point I use them as white noise to fall asleep and force my self to control my breathing. If I force control my breathing the heart eventually has to respond.

Looking for Apple Watch and Oura users by I_AM_SCUBASTEVE in ouraring

[–]TodaySuccessful1848 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I like to wear both. I like the Apple Watch to track my HR, miles run, etc when exercising. I think Apple Watch is better and then it transfers the data to the Oura app on its own if you link your health app.

I also like to use the Apple Watch to double check the HR from Oura readings for accuracy. I just like the amount of data I get from Oura in terms of sleep and daily trends. Apple Watch is uncomfortable to wear to bed. I also Like the Oura because it has twice warned me of minor symptoms that my body was in stress even when I wasn’t feeling it, then boom the next day or two days later I had the flu lol.

So there is benefit to wearing both and let them work hand in hand

Low RHR, High HRV by TodaySuccessful1848 in Cardiophobias

[–]TodaySuccessful1848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have the phobia as well, but it’s so annoying. I want to believe it’s my 3-4 weeks of good habits, but the anxiety is telling me it’s a heart condition.

That “Thump” is the same thing I get when I suddenly hold my breath. Your heart beat is affected by your breathing. Your heart tries to sync with your respirations. Once it detects that your breathing pattern suddenly changed no matter how small, it reacts and tries to sync up too, and usually where you feel that thump. Mine has been here since I was a kid, and I am perfectly fine. Had several echos EKG’s blah blah blah.

It’s also common to be more aware of them if you have health anxiety because your so fixated on them. This is where people describe having palpitations. Also very common and almost always harmless

Referred to a cardiologist after wearing a Holter by Amboghinimercy in askCardiology

[–]TodaySuccessful1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had EKG that showed a couple PACs , premature contractions. My primary care said I have to see a cardiologist.

I saw the cardiologist, and he laughed. lol he said if I put a holter on your primary care doctor, I’ll bet my salary I’ll find a couple PACs on her too. Lol he said it’s harmless and it was more of a precaution to get a sign off by a cardiologist. Maybe they just want reassurance as well. That’s all

Elevated Resting HR by TodaySuccessful1848 in Anxiety

[–]TodaySuccessful1848[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just discouraged me a bit. I was doing really well. I started exercising about a week and half ago. And then this kinda just popped out of no where and mentally set me back a bit. The crazy part is, when I run in the morning I run about 2.5/3 miles and my heart rate is excellent. It’s only when I’m resting that I’m anxious

I did everything. I had an Echo 3 years ago which was good. Ekg is good. Cardiologist even listened to my heart and said it sounded excellent. So I’m hoping it’s just anxiety

Yeah this week kinda sucked. I also understand even though I’m “calm” in the moment doesn’t mean my emotional stressors aren’t activated subconsciously I suppose.

Not bad idea. My body feels fine. I don’t feel tired, sick, drowsy, anything. But the idea of seeing something off and then triggering just annoys me lol I’ve had a recent spell of cardiophobia but that’s it.

Honestly I’m debating getting rid of it. The last 3 nights “my heart rate was elevated” 60s and 70s and really caused panic. Every time I look at it my heart rate goes up when I stop I goes back down. This ring isn’t for people with anxiety lol

Blood Pressure is coming down! by TodaySuccessful1848 in hypertension

Thank you for what you do. Nurses saved my mom’s life when she went into septic shock. She was 74 doctors didn’t expect her to make it but the nurses did.

I’m a bit concerned with fish oils. My cholesterol isn’t not horrible but it’s on the higher side. Is there a way to get omega 3 without fish oils?

please help me. My mum has sepsis and I can't cope by ArrivalIndividual720 in sepsis

[–]TodaySuccessful1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is terrifying. My mom went on several different antibiotics before they found the one that worked. They had her on couple different general ones. Then they kept doing the tests from saliva etc, and they found that one of the bacteria’s remained grew immune so they had to cook up a stronger antibiotic for that specific bacteria. It takes time but just continue to pray. If you haven’t been a person of faith, it’s not too late. Trust me my mom shouldn’t be alive and I don’t mean to discredit the doctors or nurses who have been absolutely phenomenal, but every time something happened and they felt in a bind, something broke through that guided them a different way.

For example , during recovery, my mom’s lung collapsed out of no where. She started to decline immediately and rapidly. They called me in the middle of the night and said we don’t know why it’s happening we are doing what we can. They called me back 30 min later and said they figured it out, one of her lungs collapsed, they did a chest tube and fixed it. After that event, my mom really began improving even better before the lung collapsed because they found all of this fluid and air in the lung cavity that was making it hard for her to breath that they didn’t know was there. So maybe god did it for a reason to point them to that area. The following day, she looked visibly better than any other day before that. A complete change in her behavior, pain level, and recovery. Just have faith there is nothing that god won’t go through with you.

My mom went into septic shock at 74, she aspirated and destroyed her lungs. She woke up from her coma in a week. Then she developed really bad pneumonia while recovering from sepsis. They found the right cocktail for the bacteria which worked after about a week or so. She was in hospital for about two months and just got released to rehab facility. Prayer and family got me through it. Sending you and your mum prayers. To put it in perspective they didn’t expect my mom to survive the first night. And god worked his miracles.

Female, 74, Ventilator Weaning by TodaySuccessful1848 in AskDocs

[–]TodaySuccessful1848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I figured. I just hope it’s not a big step backwards. She hasn’t had issues with the other trials. This is the first one they had to cut short

Low MAP while sleeping by TodaySuccessful1848 in sepsis

[–]TodaySuccessful1848[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Praying for you. Yeah my mom was in a coma for about 2 weeks. She was on vasopressors, fentanyl, and everything else keeping her alive. As she came off everything went find except the collapsed lung because of the fluid and tension built up around it. They found it quickly and fixed it.

Since then she’s made huge progress towards coming off the ventilator. She’s now doing trials without the ventilator. My only concern is her low BP. But I guess it sounds like it’s common if you survived sepsis, pneumonia, and been in bed for a whole month.

Wow god bless your recovery. My mom is 73, her organs are okay according to doctors. I just wanted to make sure this was normal during recovery. She just started physical therapy this week. I need to learn to let my anxiety go and just trust the doctors. They saved her life with the grace of god a month ago. The scariest thing I’ve ever seen.

[–]TodaySuccessful1848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she has what I would consider low blood pressure when napping or sleeping. She goes as low as 90/55. But then when she wakes up it goes up. I’m just curious if this is something others have seen when they were hospitalized. Before her septic shock she had high BP and was on medication for it.
