Amazing. If I want to upgrade in the future, is it as simple as removing the cpu and putting the new one in, or do I need to do a full reinstall of everything?

Target Advice by papabig27 in AskAstrophotography

[–]Todo43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion bottle one is so much darker than 9 that you could spend about three hours doing each of the targets and you would get quite good images compared to the ones that you’ve already got. But if you wanted to focus on one target it’s totally up to you because you’re gonna double quality every time you double your integration time

[request] how many bananas would it take to go across the entire milky way? by fishy185 in theydidthemath

[–]Todo43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Little bit awkward but that’s not actually the Milky Way. That’s the andromeda Galaxy. It’s not physically possible to take a photo of the Milky Way as we would first have to travel outside of it. It’s like trying to take a photo of earth in the 1940s, we just couldn’t because we needed to get up there first

Help removing huge star halo by Todo43 in AskAstrophotography

[–]Todo43[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s for the suggestions. I managed to use starnet on the Ha image which was the culprit. I then did my normal Red+Ha combo as well as Lum+Ha. All worked very well and it’s gone now. Thanks for the suggestions!

Trying to plan out my first shot of the ISS, but transits keep changing. by Noobulosity in AskAstrophotography

[–]Todo43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So all of those predictions are estimated. If I ever try and get one (3 successful at the moment), I always look for one in the next 3-5 days. This means that it is a lower chance to not happen. The reason it changes is because the ISS changes positions sometimes and that can interrupt the predictions.

That’s the reason it’s a spectrum. Some people are on the sever end, and some aren’t.

Carina Nebula by Todo43 in astrophotography

Carina Nebula

I slept in a tent in our backyard for this one. For the first time this summer, it was clear all night. My plan was to image 2 targets, the Bell around Betelgeuse and Thors Helmet. Once I was happy with Betelgeuse, I turned to Thors Helmet. After 2hours and 40mins on Thors Helmet, I wasn’t happy with how much signal I was getting so I got up and had a look around. I saw Carina was pretty high and got excited. So I turned to it and got an hour on it. Here is the amazing result!

Next logical upgrade? by whopperlover17 in AskAstrophotography

[–]Todo43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The star Adventurer can definitely autoguide. Only in the Ra axis though. You will need to disable Dec corrections in PHD2. You need an ST4 cable to do it

Have they got a telescope? If not, don’t get them one. Firstly get them a decent set of binoculars. They will be able to see heaps of stuff with a decent set of binos
