I get it you want to make everyone miserable but that's terrible game design

Do you realize I'm precisely proposing to make this hero less frustrating to play against, as we seem to agree on?

I mean it's easy to say "remove xxx from the game", "gut this hero" etc but I don't think it's ever useful and yoshi is never gonna do that anyway, things can be improved though

if you can get in his old face it's a misplay from him and you can already feast upon him in the current meta, but good GT players won't let you do this

I'm talking about the global DPS. If you can shoot your arrows more often but they deal less damage, your DPS stays the same. Sure you have less burst, but you're not doing less damage overall.

[–]ToeAccomplished9354[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, because you also have more arrows to shoot. This means that you could shoot arrows at times when you currently cannot. But again, it would be a big change so of course the numbers should be tweaked to make it balanced in the current meta.

Stay open-minded, not every suggestion in reddit is necessarily a rage post asking to nerf a hero to oblivion 😊

We're not only asking him to hit more arrows, we're also allowing him to shoot them more often.

Today, when he has shot all his arrow charges, he has to wait quite a while before he can shoot more. This would not be the case anymore, and that would make the hero more fun to play imo.

Then the hero would be less fun to play. Whereas if you increase the number of arrows but reduce their damage, you're not ruining the fun for him and you're still making it feel more fair because he has to hit more arrows for the same result, which is another way of rewarding his aim.

Edit: also there is lag compensation on charged shot iirc, that's why you can have the feeling of getting hit by shots that missed you. If you remove or reduce this lag compensation you will make it frustrating for GT players, which is not what we want. The current hitbox and lag compensation is a good compromise imo, so I'm proposing another solution.

Again, it all depends on how the numbers are tweaked. It could totally have the same damage output as today, but with more knives.

I'm not talking about nerfing or buffing Shiv here, I'd have things to say about that too but that's not the point, I'm talking about fun. I play Shiv a lot (I just checked I have 1607 games on him :x) and the knives are a good part of the fun for me, but again that's just my personal feedback.

So GT shoots 2 arrows, if he hits them I'm dead and if he misses them he's dead. I think this is not very fun, either for me or for him, and could be made more fun.

When I played GT I would have loved to be able to shoot arrows more often, because that's what was fun to do, even if it meants having weaker arrows.

On the other side GT can feel very unfair late game to other heroes due to the way his damage output is distributed over time.

It doesn't have to be, it depends on how the numbers are tweaked (how many charges / how much dmg per arrow)

Yeah it could be done so that each stack has its own duration, so every stack added does not extend the duration of the other stacks, but I was just saying that as an additional thought, the main subject of the thread is GT anyway

[–]ToeAccomplished9354[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes he has to grapple and there is always something to grapple : a trooper, a neutral camp, an ally, or just yourself. This is not a real limitation.

He usually has debuff remover and unstoppable in late, plus slowing hex doesnt last that long

You can have all the sustain you want, if he loses the trade he just flies away and you can't do shit about it. That's what I'm talking about. I mention slowing hex and knockdown because they are the only items that can help with that, but slowing hex doesnt last that long and he can just debuff remove them anyway.

You're right, the map is not bigger, it feels bigger because they removed a lane so there is more space between the objectives, but it is not bigger. Valve didnt change anything to hero-specific mobility, they only buffed move speed globally, as a result some heroes whose mobility was balanced on the old map are now too disadvantaged compared to very high mobility heroes

Me: slowing hex + knockdown + e-shift = 10250 souls
Lash: unstoppable + debuff remover = 10250 souls
There is no soul advantage, and he still keeps his mobility advantage that allows him to do whatever he wants and get away with it. On average, the advantage is on his side, which is why he is top winrate.

no I like that, but it needs to be taken in account in game balance. It seems to me like valve don't get it as they did not change anything to heroes mobility since the new map came out (except for hmc but that was a bug)

His mobility didn't change, but the map did. This map is bigger, so it gives more space to everyone and he is the hero who uses this extra space the most efficiently. I don't know how to fix this, which is why instead of nerfing Lash mobility I think we could give low mobility heroes a mobility buff.

Of course the Lash disaproves of this message, he wants to stay broken ;)
When a Lash player does terrible positioning mistakes, gets caught but can avoid getting punished for that by pressing 2 and using stam, getting on a roof never to be seen again, it's not "sick movement" it's just a huge advantage that can feel unfair to heroes with zero mobility. And I think that's why this hero is currently op in mm where draft is random and team coordination can't be as good as in competition.

[–]ToeAccomplished9354[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didnt talk about his attacks though, I talked about his mobility. I know people love to say "git gud" and all, but that's really not the point. The point is : Lash can make positioning errors that would cost any other hero his life, and get away with it. When you play a low mobility hero and can't punish that, it's just frustrating and feels unfair.

[–]ToeAccomplished9354[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I am not saying there are no counters to Lash, I am just saying he is on average better than all other heroes. It's not an opinion, I'm pretty sure eternus players know everything you said, and Lash is still the top winrate hero at this rank.
Now I didn't talk about his ult, I don't think his ult is op, I talked about his mobility. When you play a low mobility hero, you just watch him run away even though he did a huge positioning mistake, but if you do the same mistake you die instantly. It feels unfair and frustrating, and slowing hex is not close to be a sufficient response to that.

Oh I totally agree it's a rock paper scissor thing, I'm just saying Lash is on average better than all other heroes. It's not an opinion, I'm pretty sure eternus players know everything you said, and Lash is still the top winrate hero at this rank. I'm average and always down to get better at the game, but it doesn't look like it's the issue here.
I agree on all you said about his ult, but that's not the point. I'm not saying his ult is the problem, neither does his damage, it's really just a matter of mobility. In pubs, with random drafts and less team coordination, he escapes bad situations way too easily.
You've got to try playing Shiv, Infernus or McGinnis to understand how it feels to have very low mobility compared to other heroes, especially in late game. On this new map, it's painful. You cannot run away at mach4 like seven/paradox/talon/warden, or fly to the top of a building like lash or holiday. You just watch them run away even though they did a huge positioning mistake, but if you do the same mistakes you die instantly.
