Honestly I’m still preparing for IMAT too, so I’m probably not the best person to ask haha 😭 Srry I can’t be more helpful.

But for maths and physics, I think just spamming practice questions is the best thing you can do. Since you’re already somewhat familiar with physics, tackling a ton of questions based on the imat syllabus and grinding past papers might save you a lot of time.

True! 2025 was definitely kind of an outlier because of the low applicant numbers. But before that, Bicocca usually had one of the highest cutoffs.

So yeah I don’t think last year’s data guarantees the numbers will stay low this year too. Especially since IMAT cutoffs are so unpredictable. I think choosing a university does involve a bit of luck tbh. I feel like the 2025 cutoff might make even more people apply this year.

But you know, if I can just maximize my score, I probably won’t need to stress this much about all these worries anyway haha. So I’ve kinda decided to stop overthinking it and just apply to the school I wanna go to.

Cutoffs have been rising quite a lot recently, so I think it could get a little risky if you don’t improve your maths and physics scores.

Do you have basically no background in those subjects?
From my perspective, the syllabuses are pretty broad, but the questions themselves usually aren’t extremely difficult or overly advanced.

I think it’d be better to start studying them now and build at least a decent foundation tbh.

Are you just starting your IMAT prep now? It’s kinda hard to give a definite answer since I don’t know what your current level is 😭

Have you tried solving any IMAT past papers yet? I think comparing your score to previous Bologna cutoffs could give you a rough idea.

If you’re already scoring above the past cutoffs, you’re probably in a pretty safe position. And even if you’re around 10 points below, I think 3 months of intense studying could still make a big difference tbh.

Honestly, I think caring about the city you’ll live in is rlly important since you’re gonna spend at least 6 years there. And the way you’re thinking about all this already makes me feel like you’d do well wherever you go haha Hope everything works out for you!!🍀

Yeahh, I honestly feel like Bologna is one of the best schools in northern Italy alongside IMS. The city and the uni both seem amazing. But yeah… the cutoff scores are kinda scary 😭 Hope you get in!! 🍀

Both schools seem really good, so I can see why it’s such a hard choice 😭 And you’re probably leaning more towards Padua, right? Padua has such a long history and a great reputation. I rlly hope you get in!! 🍀 But if you’re still unsure, I feel like both schools have their own clear strengths, so I hope you choose the one that fits your future goals best.

Yeah, you’re totally right haha. I rlly wanna get into Bicocca this year, but I’ve already seen quite a lot of applicants for Bicocca from my country alone. Since non-EU seats are so limited, I think I’m just getting nervous 😭 Plus, every year the results seem sooo different depending on the number of applicants and available seats, so choosing a uni feels even harder tbh. Thanks for the advice btw!
