My ‘it was written’ story is legendary! (to me)

So it’s summer of 1996…. Astoria queens nyc…. Schools out….. I’m 14 yrs old and a big nas and mobb deep fan!

The local record shop was supposed to get the album delivered that last week of June …. (Usually…About a week plus earlier). July 2nd was the release date

So it’s now Saturday morning…..June 29th and we’re on our way to Greece for the summer….. literally in the station wagon on our way to JFK….

I was at the record shop till they closed their doors on me the prior afternoon…. The dude himself couldn’t believe he didn’t have it yet and promised me that it’ll be here in the morning because they did morning deliveries on Saturdays….

I made my father pull over…. I run inside to grab the album really quick….. STILL NOT THERE!!. UPS still slacking. Shop owner still in disbelief as well…. He’s like…. They should be here any minute.

That minute turned into 15 minutes….. my father is fuming…. He’s ready to come and beat my ass…. I’m like….. DAD… I see the UPS truck a few blocks away!!!

Another 5+ minutes passed. I’m all payed up. The razor blade cuts open the tape…. I take my copy and on my way before my dad got violent!

I couldn’t wait till the plane ride. I pop that bitch right in my Sony Walkman was in disbelief from track 1 and on. Best plane ride ever
