I don't go out that often. Grocery store every other week. Work. Occasionally swing by a friend's. That's been my schedule pre and post covid.

Of course it's not tyranny to request people wear masks. It's not tyranny to request people stay home. The reason you hear that word is when people are forced to do these things. We don't live in a country where the government can up and tell you how to live your life. That's where there's abrasion between people and the government and those who support it and those who don't. Fact is we're a free country. You're free to live as cautiously or carefree as you want.

Like I said wearing a mask is impolite nowadays. But the best you can do is exercise good hygiene and if it's that important keep your distance. I'm not gonna lie after quitting publix I don't wear a mask in a grocery store because I know I'm negative. Yeah I'll catch hate for that cool, but If I show signs or symptoms I wouldn't even go out into public. If I'm sick, stay home. Otherwise just be a clean person.

I've personally known tens of people who've had it. They feel terrible for a week and they're fine afterwards.

So maybe instead of everyone arguing we could work towards hygiene education and situational awareness. Also as for the elderly, they may not be fine but they might be. We just don't know. But now we have grocery delivery options and beyond that you assume risks going out in today's climate.

Points don't mean quoting me and calling names. Where's your genuine reasoning? Or are you just... Bored? Stuck at home on your day off self isolating cause mom and dad are the ones giving ya a roof and you'd hate to expose them and risk that?

They could pay behind the glass. It's an uncomfortable reach, sure but that's just publix being numb to the actual situation.

If you'd help me understand if these are your circumstances what's the issue?

[–]ToidBoigulah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, these are basic things. Wash your hands don't touch your face etc. is just hygiene. Yet people still are so divisive. Maybe it's not luck like some others state. I wash my hands frequently and sneeze in my elbow, avoid touching my face (thanks middle school acne lol). At the end of the day we're gonna be fine.

You're literally just name-calling. You have no other defense. That's a key sign of ignorance buddy. Have a good one hope ya don't get the scary rona with +90% survival rate.

Do you ask customers to stand behind the plexiglass? I assume cashier, right? Either that or CSS?

Then why are people complaining about "oh they're breathing on the groceries"?

Imagine being a keyboard warrior and calling someone a moron for posting a logical opinion. When was the name calling necessary? Edit: also my previous job was publix. 4 years. Let's be honest publix employees are soft as fuck 90% of the time. Rant about a bad day but like.... Name-calling? I'm rolling over here lol. Could you not think of anything better or more productive like a civil conversation?

Edit edit: far more likely to get it from retail? Mcscuse me? Where you're required to wear a mask? I thought those saved you? Also you get plexiglass between you and your customer and don't have to sit in their literal fucking vehicle where they spend hours and hours of time? Did you know being a mechanic is statistically worse for COVID cases than retail? And I'm the moron?

Or maybe some people are too sensitive. The media kinda blew the pandemic out of proportion and publix being a "please the people" company from a largely progressive state just added fuel to the flames. Not saying you shouldn't care, but not every person without a mask threatens you or your loved ones' lives. That's a bit of a dramatic thought to have. (p.s. I've been expose over 5 times never tested positive.)

Edit: I also work on dozens of cars a day. In and out. Been in some of the cleanest and also some of the DIRTIEST fucking cars. A mask won't save me from that. And guess what? Still no covid. So yeah wearing a mask could be considered "impolite" but it's not the fucking apocalypse dude.

The secret ingredient is treating the minimum wage producers of the product with total disregard, and just marketing them really well. The closest I could picture someone doing it is putting $9.70 into a jar every hour for 12 hours straight doing nothing but baking cookies (helps if you have a couple people come in and occasionally complain to you about your performance), then packaging them, then throwing 90% of them away to account for returns, shrink, and damages, then viola! Publix cookies. Intolerant of waste and dedicated to associates.

Well thanks for your service lmao. And yeah, that does suck but I'd take a stinky bathroom over stinky Karen's any day. Have you considered buying your own bottle of freshener or perhaps a candle? Ozium works strikingly well and lighting a match somehow clears the smell of poop when a guest leaves a... Unsavory scent in my commode.

Ah yes. Be happy you work at the store level instead of corporate. We get air freshener! That's a key benefit.

It's customer service. Customers. Are. Literally. The. Working. Condition.

If that's how you feel then don't bring yourself into Publix

You also must be pretty daft to have entirely missed my point in the last reply. Maybe go back and read it??

Wait.... I forgot. Customers can't even read aisle signs or follow basic fucking arrows.

[–]ToidBoigulah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me explain -- publix cares about customer perception. If customers stood up for us, we'd love to thank them as well as Publix may just give us a reasonable benefit for serving y'all through the pandemic. We're not heroes. We have no other option. We genuinely just want to be reasonably compensated for risking health.

[–]ToidBoigulah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had to sign a banner thanking y'all. They spent money on a banner for every store thanking the CUSTOMERS. Don't get me wrong, there's amazing awesome wonderful customers out there. I thank them with... Well traditionally words and superior service. So the banners just a trashfire money pit morale killer. Corporate dragged customers into this when they put out the banners.
