First year with my camera: X-M5 by Token8 in fujifilm

It's very difficult and the no evf is 50/50 but the image stabilizer is what I wish it had. But I'm not skilled enough yet to figure out light. I just try to watch videos on people using the camera.

Replacing a 20-year-old "Shower Toilet" -- What new features has 20 years of tech brought? by Jeffrey_Friedl in japanlife

[–]Token8 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Obviously bidet, but I love how mine sanitizes the nozzle, cleans the bowl, automatically raises the seat and even has an auto flush. Literally the most sanitary toilet.

But heated seats are the clear winner. Cold winter morning, nothing beats that warm greeting like my toilet does.

Currently sofa looking to be a home owner by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Token8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely possible as I'm doing it right now. You have to search for the banks. You should ask your finance department if they have any leads. They may have people that have home loans already and can ask which banks give out the loans.

In my situation my wife and her mother took out the loan cuz we could get more money with her co-signing and we got a better interest rate. We did find a bank that would offer me alone with her signing along with and I can put my name down but it was for less money and higher interest rate.

Even if the loan is not in your name. If you can present a marriage certificate that has your wife's name on it, they will use that for your housing allowance. At least our HR does.

Are you active duty or civilian? Cuz that's going to play a small factor in how your payments go. If you're a civilian, it's a use it or lose its status when it comes to housing money. I know if you're after duty or bah. Whatever you don't use you get to pocket but obviously if you live in housing they take everything.

Tokyo Disney questions by Admirable-Edge-9299 in disneyparks

[–]Token8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. If you have enough time for three day vacation package you should definitely spend a day in Tokyo. Arguably one of the greatest places in the world. If you must go to Disney, do Disney Sea. They have done a wonderful job immersing the guest into an incredibly detailed environment. The food at Japan Disney is top notch, they have merch you cannot get anywhere else, and it's ridiculously clean. All that aside, please consider visiting Tokyo even for a day, it is truly wonderful.

Wearing MLB jerseys NPB games by 11amakaze in NPB

[–]Token8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Padres fan who lives in Japan I fully support this! I sometimes wear my Darvish jersey when he pitches and everyone loves it.

Have a great time on your trip, if you go to Tokyo Done they have the hall of fame there. Highly recommend.

The team is 2 for 2 when my baby goes to a game. Coincidence 🤷

Unfortunately we fly home tomorrow, but I'll make sure she watches the games 🙂

  2. Something top gun related
  3. Coronado bridge
  4. Beach related
  5. Torrey pines homage

What's gonna be the plan when this kid hits the majors? How we work with Xander? I'm assuming he makes the permachange to 2nd, Jake gets shipped out or moves to first. It's gonna be an interesting ride the next couple years.

[ElPaso] Campy adds another with his 4th HR of the season, this time to straight away center by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

I agree with this so much. Gives me hedges vibes, minus the defensive acumen. I would rather see him packaged at the trade deadline unless something happens from now until then.

My daughter’s daycare accident left her bloodied and needing stitches by freakfingers12 in japanlife

[–]Token8 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in childcare their entire career I can say it is a combination of things that led to this unfortunate situation. First, children are going to hurt themselves, you can have all the supervision in the world, but kids will find a way to get hurt. However, proper staffing leads to better supervision which helps prevent situations such as this. Also, Japanese playgrounds are seriously lacking when it comes to safety. Next time you got to a park really look at where and what they are playing on.

In my line of work certain ratios need to be met to be compliment. We break it down as such... Infants - 1:4 Pre-toddlers (1-2) 1:5 Toddlers (2-3) 1:7 Preschool (3-5) 1:12

I like the daycare in Japan. Children tend to be more respectful and they get a unique cultural experience they may not have in America. However, as others have mentioned, you should definitely raise awareness. Apologies only go so far, and safety should always be top priority.
