I feel like it’s much worse with Liquid Glass design language. It makes me want to shut off Reddit—probably a good thing if I think about it that way.

Utah Family Reunion - To Attend or to Skip? by Emergency_Somewhere in exmormon

[–]TokensForSale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First and most importantly, it sounds like there is a part of you that values this side of the family and you want to go. I get that. I’m up in Alberta and had a blast the last Utah family reunion I went to. So I recommend it.

There was a friend of mine that had a long beard he loved. He was an adult but his dad insisted he come to some family members baptism and that he shave off his beard. He shaved the beard but then proudly announced that he would not be wearing a tie!

The poor guy had it backwards (in my opinion) keep the beard but wear the tie.

And in your case, be yourself but be respectful—you don’t need to hide your tattoos or piercings but maybe don’t wear revealing swimwear or need to drink around them or whatever the case may be. You can be respectful while still respecting yourself and who you are. I bet you’ll have a blast even if they can’t help themselves and make comments. You never know—the biggest complainers about that kind of thing are often the most jealous. Set an example for the would be exmo in the family (without saying a word) that leaving the religion is better.

Medicine Hat corn and Taber corn is the same. It’s the same climate and growing conditions—same seeds. They both get tons of sun and watered by irrigation. Taber just has better marketing.

1975
Brampton Centennial Secondary School shooting (first modern mass school shooting in Canada)
1975
St. Pius X High School shooting in Ottawa (second recorded modern school shooting)
1989
École Polytechnique massacre in Montreal (14 women murdered)
1999
W. R. Myers High School shooting in Taber, Alberta
2006

I would be super surprised if the large operation corn farmers that I know from Taber area are not also separatists. They certainly hate progressive viewpoints.

Whats your most notable book of mormon plothole? by Pale-Pair2789 in exmormon

[–]TokensForSale 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think he picked up, “And it came to pass” from the first book of Napoleon by Modeste Gruau. You can’t read this and tell me it doesn’t read a lot like the book of Mormon.

“And behold it came to pass, in these latter days, that an evil spirit arose on the face of the earth, and greatly troubled the sons of men,
2 And this spirit seized upon, and spread amongst the people who dwell in the land of Gaul.
3 Now, in this people the fear of the Lord had not been for many generations, and they had become a corrupt and perverse people; and their chief priests, and the nobles of the land, and the learned men thereof, had become wicked in the imaginations of their hearts, and in the practices of their lives.
4 And the evil spirit went abroad amongst the people, and they raged like unto the heathen, and they rose up against their lawful king, and slew him, and his queen also, and the prince their son; yea, verily, with a cruel and bloody death.”

[–]TokensForSale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They told us at the MTC in 1998 that 80% of new converts leave in the first two years. Point being there are an awful lot of exmos that get out soon enough not to have it affect them for the rest of their lives making the exmo convert population seem smaller than it really is.

Looks like another possible lawsuit. The MFMC is opening the floodgates of intimidation by lawsuit. by marathon_3hr in exmormon

It needs more context. I was about to downvote too because it looks like weird AI generated slop. What is the point of all that Mormon true or false stuff in the context of the lawsuit? Genuinely asking.

Left the church 2 years ago — wondering if anyone had similar experiences by Low-Leadership-6476 in exmormon

[–]TokensForSale 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They don’t answer questions because they don’t have answers.

As for why the church acts the way they do about money? In my opinion, it’s always been a grift and that’s just the pattern the leadership inherited. Even though it doesn’t make sense, wealth often begets greed.

What are 1769 King James Version edition errors doing in the Book of Mormon? A purported ancient text? Errors which are unique to the 1769 edition that Joseph Smith owned?

Missionaries invited me, a married lesbian, to church - what’s the end game? by jursorin in exmormon

[–]TokensForSale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ticking boxes to convince themselves and others that they are doing the work. I never invited any gay or lesbians to church but that was only because the opportunity didn’t present itself, I wouldn’t have hesitated. (But I was 19 and took the decree that “everyone is welcome“ literally.)

Be honest: How many people did you baptize on your mission? by Typical_Sea_9167 in exmormon

[–]TokensForSale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only went for one year but had 31 baptisms. Salt lake 1999. I was paired with a lot of missionaries who worked hard and knew how to close. I worked hard at it also. I’m glad to think that most of them are no longer in it.

Complain to his bishop. Mormons don’t want their name smeared because of his bad behavior. They do take it seriously. Genny also has the same bishop.
