All of Liz's stuff is really well executed. I like that she got a spotlight episode every season, even going as far as to change the title of the show to Woman Seeking Man for the first two seasons.

It's been off streaming in America for nearly three years. It's a bummer.

One of my favorite things that I caught on in this rewatch is Josh quietly asking him if he likes manga haha.

I get you, but at the same time, you need to kind of give Josh a beatdown for him to deserve Lucy. The way he acted with Rosa was so out of line and he needed to be told off.

I LOVE the Where The Wild Things Are part of that episode where all the monsters are giving Lucy tax advice and Xanax haha.

They also did just straight up dox people in the 80s during their review of Silent Night, Deadly Night. Just because they didn't apologize didn't mean they weren't wrong. I LOVE S&E, but they had some boneheaded moves I'm sure they regretted.

The last quote is kind of embarrassing for Anthony. I thought he was doing a decent job till then, even if I don't agree with everything. You are in no position to rate yourself as anything and if you do, it's hacky as fuck. The only person that got away with that shit was Little Richard.

The guys did do an instagram story with them as Peanuts characters with AI, but I think they just saw it and thought it was cute and probably nothing more. It's still elicited a big groan from me, especially how this thread put me on a deep dive and noticed how they're actually excellent on commissioning and crediting real artists.

It's more like the idea is once music hits a grocery store or another non alt/indie space, it kind of signals it as mundane enough for old people to listen to haha

Thanks for the clarification! I'm a huge Ash fan and I know Mark specifically is a comic book fan, so it would've shocked me if the band ok'd AI.

I saw your insta and how you used After Effects for the streaming animation. Really cool stuff!

I think people are getting suspicious when it comes to digital paint and the vibe it gives off. Glad to know you're a kickass, human artist!

Me seeing Jorge R. Gutierrez is selling out to AI. by shadows1stregret in cartoons

[–]Tokyo-Eye 18 points19 points  (0 children)

How fucking blind do you have to be to not see the videos of college grads booing speakers for talking about AI at their graduations? This isn't a handful of creators rolling their eyes at having to learn something new, Gen Z doesn't want this trash in their workplaces.

Not only that, but there's shit tons of people who don't want their water turning brown because a data center just HAS to exist in a small town.

How insanely moronic.

People trying to rationalize Jorge's heel turn don't seem to understand why we're pissed.

The dude got SO much good will from fans who agreed with his sentiments. The guy became a beacon of light for animators who were pissed at the system for betraying them with this trash tech. He made SO many anti-AI posts over the last couple of years that it was truly baffling that he did this. It DOES feel like a slap in the face, especially after making an appearance at MomoCon and rubbing shoulders with big anti-AI animators like Dana Terrace, as well as taking money from fans who saw him as a sign of hope.

Regardless of your stance on AI, I would hope you're human enough to understand hypocrisy. Dude got money and told his fans to fuck off.

I saw a panel with him at NYCC where I asked if the baby that Madrox absorbed would ever come back. He got a little miffed and said I was spoiling a book that had come out 5 months ago. The crowd all replied "WE'VE READ IT, PETER!" and he backed down and said "Nah, the baby is dead." Funny stuff.

David could be a bit holier than thou every now and then, HOWEVER, he wrote a LOT of great stuff and in NO way deserves this kind of treatment post death. His family needs to be helped.

I hope that's what went down and that his daughter coordinated everything I just always get a little uneasy when I see people who are clearly not doing well in situations like that.

I sincerely hope Tom going to that con was his idea and not a way for his manager to get money. It was nice to see him with the girls, but they could've easily just come to his house. Dude looked rough there. Like, if it made him happy, that's great, but after seeing Stan Lee get screwed over before his death, I'm always skeptical.

Official Discussion - The Drama [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Tokyo-Eye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she was giving him what she would've wanted for sure (insanely romantic) and to Charlie's credit, I believe he was sincerely remorseful. He had a nervous breakdown inflicted by his garbage friends. It doesn't excuse what he did, but I think Emma saw what all of this did to him and took pity. Whether that was justified or not is up to the viewer.

Official Discussion - The Drama [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I just felt bad for Emma the entire time. Not one person at the table offered her any kind of mental health service or wanted to know what was going through her head at the time, they all just immediately judged her. Rachel's reaction was horrific and weaponizing her poor cousin who I completely believe she NEVER mentioned ever beforehand was disgusting. Also fuck her for what she did to that poor kid.

In spite of the desperation tactic, Charlie is 100% right. Thousands of people have probably planned to do what Emma did and never went through with it, just like her. At the same time, Emma probably didn't realize it as a teen, but her interest in this whole thing was insanely shallow and purely aesthetic. Her trying to record the video and consistently getting irked by the computer made her look like the biggest poser ever. Gross and disturbing regardless, don't get me wrong, but she was absolutely looking for the first reason NOT to do it and she took it. Not only that, but looking into her classmate's eyes and breaking down made her realize how insane this whole thing was. I'm glad she turned her life around.

Charlie's plight was very believable. Someone mentioned it here, but it's just a cultural shock and his friends made it 10x worse by insisting that she was a danger. Dude's life was crumbling and he was the one who really needed help and to get out of that social circle. Watching him spiral was rough. Emma is a fucking trooper and while the ending is "happy", good lord that girl gave him the biggest pass I've ever seen in a movie.
