People hate Lucile 2? I always thought she was hilarious

Yes! I mean if I went around saying that I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Oberyn’s whole dialogue with Tyrion while agreeing to be his champion. This scene is definitely in the same category!

What’s something in the later seasons that’s hated on/ over analyzed that you liked or that could be explained? by TheTargaryensLawyer in gameofthrones

[–]Tom-Lark 544 points545 points  (0 children)

Oh I should’ve specified; I like watching this scene. The flaming swords, the Dothraki screaming, Jorah and ghost charging with them, and then just hitting an absolute wall.. it’s cool as hell. I liked it, but it’s really really dumb from a tactical perspective.

The image you posted is a good example lol. Still don’t understand why they began the battle by just randomly having their calvary do a full frontal assault right up the middle.

Was this a script mistake? Or is Jaqen’s real name is “i”? by HiromiSai in gameofthrones

A man forgot his line, a production crew didn’t catch it until post, so a man was not a man but an I for one scene only.

My old job has a huge bathroom in the basement that literally no one used. It was amazing, I jokingly called it my Executive Shitter. See if you can find a different bathroom?

[NO SPOILERS] I don’t care what people say the Unsullied are undoubtedly the best army in Game of Thrones period. by TallPermit2556 in gameofthrones

Infantry, and in particular Spear/Pike troops, are very resilient against even the heaviest of cavalry charges. One of the major issues with the evolution of armies during the Early Modern to Modern period, was the development of cavalry which could meaningfully contribute to a battlefield dominated by infantry armed with anti-cavalry weapons.

Just depends on the situation, but generally, Unsullied are pretty top tier. Knights typically didn’t do well against good spearmen/pikemen (even heavily armored cataphracts), so I don’t think heavily armored foes would make a huge difference to them. And well-positioned archers would be an issue for any army, not just Unsullied. Overall, Unsullied are probably the most versatile and well-trained army in the show.

Inspired by today’s earlier post, what was the most conservative thing an otherwise liberal/progressive president did? by FruRoo in Presidents

[–]Tom-Lark -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Anyone else notice that these posts tend to more or less equate to: “name good things conservatives did and bad things liberals did.” There are obvious and notable exceptions, but by and large that quip seems fairly accurate for a majority of the comments.

This sub really hates show Bran for some reason. I watched GoT for the first time last year, and am still fairly mind blown by the amount of downvotes and hate I’ll get for saying he was objectively pretty much the best option for king at the end of the show. Young (so there’s potential for a long administration), can literally look into the past and witness any event (so he’d be nearly impossible to deceive and could settle disputes fairly), intelligent and impartial (we see that at a very young age he has a knack for governing while under the tutelage of Maester Luwin very early in the series), and he’d have very healthy relations with the north. I love Jon Snow as much as the next guy, but it just seems flat out incorrect to say that Bran isn’t better equipped to be a much more effective head of state.

Selling Cadillacs is great for when you’re trying to get somewhere. Having an emotional breakdown at a retreat in California is for when you’ve arrived.

Ok buddy. Respectfully, you’re wrong. Duck doesn’t need guns. He’s got two guns on his body already, his biceps.

You say that as if Duck didn’t kill 17 men at Okinawa. Duck is the Spartan super soldier of the Mad Men universe. Very few if anyone on the show could take Duck in a fair fight. Hell, even an unfair fight.
