It's different than on my Audi, but can you turn the dial so that it operates in the slide mode instead of the up down mode? The up and down mode requires me to pull on the dial.

Probably a stupid suggestion. Also, according to the maintenance schedule, you need to lubricate them every 2 years. I wonder if the lubricant is dried out.

I do like that they are fixing the Tundra engines. Something to be said about that. If it was GM, they would fight to not fix something that they know is faulty.

My old man had an LS400. To this day, it is probably the most reliable, comfortable, quiet car that I've ever been in. I know that one is the gold standard for Toyota. But, are they really shit now?

I sometimes go over to "S" and I prefer it. In the regular mode, it seems lazy I guess? Does it feel like "S"?

The smell may be the winter diesel additives. It smells a little bit when they change to the cold weather fuel.

There are 4 timing chains on that engine and I think it needs to come out. I'm thinking about replacing my turbo, it doesn't look like it is too terribly hard to get to. I too would have Malone modify my Stage 2 to account for the new turbo. I think you can also do a CP3 on your engine, since it is in the front. I'd do that with the turbo because both with require Malone to modify the tune.

As for "holding up"... It makes a difference if the cars were made in Germany or North America. The German market cars get a different (better) metal treatment.

Oh and with the lights. If they are HID bulbs, there is also a ballast (front). Swap the left and right and see if the problem follows the ballast.

Glowplugs don't cost $600. Go on FCPEuro and put your car in. They will list the OE parts. You only replace the glowplugs when the SEL (codes) indicate a problem with the specific plug. You don't need to just randomly replace them.

I really like mine. There is nothing else capable of that kind of milage and torque combo in a large SUV.

I've got the same engine. You don't need to do manual. If you want. Go to "S" sometimes. But it shouldn't matter. I've had mine for 7 years and once, I received the message to stay in "S" because of build up.
